Whilst Husband gets on with all those important little weekend jobs which keep life hunky-dory - you know, like getting angry with the tellybox and the sound system, printing out manuals and oh, woe is he, why do all these things make his life so complicated - I busy myself with those odd little tasks which don't really matter. Changing the bed sheets, putting the washing on, watering the garden, putting the shopping away ... you know, the sort of things that he thinks Dobby, our house elf, does. Except, we don't have a house elf. Our fairly new tellybox developed a nasty rash of dead thunderflies. Three, to be exact. Sony agreed to swap it for a new {refurbed} one, and the swap duly took place yesterday. But this tellybox flickers, on average about once every ten minutes, sometimes two or three times in quick succession. The screen goes blank/black for about a second, but no sound is lost. He has tried everything. Different cables, different set ups, factory resets ... Sony's customer service don't work on weekends so for the time being we have to live with it. And then, he decided that the sound box thingymajiggy needs a factory reset. And now everything has gone bonkers ... I've left him to it. Twelve years of sharing a home has taught me that it's best to just let him get on with it. Bite my tongue. Walk away from the situation. Hope he can spare me a smile later. *sigh*

Your post reminds me of a time, decades ago, when my husband decided to repair the blender. He moved cables, he opened it and then he decided to try it out to see if it worked. Lucky for him, he had lots of coins in the pocket of the leg where he placed the blender. He had forgotten to put back the iron lid that closed the fan. The jeans were destroyed, the blender too. Thanks be given for those coins. Nothing happened to his leg.

@Poppylicious They were providential. And taught him to leave some sort of work for the pros.

Someone pointed out that it took Moses 40 years to lead God's people around and around in the desert. His wife must have known the way to get everyone out within a few days, but she kept silence the whole time out of respect of her husband... You did the right thing, let the male species alone with their funny ways .

So really, women have just been letting men get on with it and making them look like fools for many thousands of years?!
