So What’s Newt?

A lot has been going on in our life. That’s what’s newt. Our grandson loves camp, and besides catching newts, he fell in love with tennis, horseback riding, technology, waterskiing , woodworking, technology, and acting. He made so many new friends, too. He comes home in one week. The Ice Princess isn’t the only princess at camp. lol. There are two sisters who are real princesses from a foreign country. They have body guards dressed as camp counselors. Our son and daughter-in-law met Nicole Ritchie and her husband on Parents Visiting Day. Nicole introduced herself and told them how much her daughter loves being friends with our granddaughter. Actually. Harlow, who everyone calls Kate, went swimming with our DIL. Nicole didn’t want to get wet. Kate told our DIL that she was the coolest mom in the world. Our younger son and his bride have moved into their new house, or mansion, as her parents call it. It is magnificent. We are keeping both kitties until the contractors and overly noisy workmen finish whatever our son wants done. Hopefully, the kitties can remain with us until we leave for Florida. We love them so much! Our son stops by to see them at least twice a day, since he is only two miles from us. My husband put in a bid on a one bedroom co-op in Manhattan. There is a huge bidding war on that particular place, so I doubt we will get it. I hope not! Our older son and his wife returned from a vacation in Nova Scotia. They were told that it was the high season and quite busy, so all their accommodations were made in advance. They only saw one car and one couple on their entire weeklong visit! . When we visited them last week, the pictures showed not a soul. Other than that, I’ve been walking, working out at my new gym, playing golf and tennis, lunching with friends, shopping, going out to lots of dinners, and reading. The usual.

You are keeping very busy! Are you saying that in all of Nova Scotia that all they saw was one car and one couple? Maybe everyone went on vacation somewhere else.

@1hopefulman They enjoyed themselves, especially without the kids. They also learned the difference between Maine lobsters and those up there. lol

I'm always busy, and that's how I like it. They didn't see a soul in Halifax, PEI, or on the rest of their nature travels! Perhaps all the Canadians were visiting the US!

I was surprised they call her Kate. I love Harlow more. The media calls her Harlow. The kids are in different camps, but both sound like fun for us, too!

@FayeHazel It is so pretty. Kate is cute, but not as unusual as Harlow. She looks so much like her mother!!!

@DianneN - Yes, this has been a very busy time in your family's life. Other than the new baby, which we will be seeing soon, and the granddaughter who will be leaving for vet school in Granada in four days, the rest of our family seems pretty settled right now. Enjoy all the activity. These are blessed times.

@DianneN You and your family have been very busy. I am so glad you have both cats with you. I know how much you love them. So, how do the newly weds like their new home? Are they staying while the noise is going on around them?

We are always busy it seems. Our son stops by twice a day to visit the kitties. He's here right now. lol They love the the house! The noise hasn't started, yet, but is being lined up. They will be working while the work is going on, unless our son isn't busy with work. My husband was there for a furniture delivery and was on call for an oil fillup.

@Hannihar I don't like construction work in my house either, but it's a necessary evil. Doodles heard a shrew in the pachysandra and scooped it out just for me! Two this week. Lucky me!

@DianneN Oh no problem. I have that issue too with names. :-) What kind of things do you like to read, generally? Oh yes, I'm a little bummed about Bridgette going home. I miss her meeting me at the door, guarding while I sleep, and even putting her food out. But the sooner she goes home, the sooner he can bring her back. :-)

First part about your grand son was awesome then I got to the part about the princesses and Nicole Richie and eeekk that's just so neat! Your granddaughter is going to be so excited to go back to school and tell all this news to her friends. That is so sweet your son is stopping by so often to see you now that he lives nearby. I missed so many of your posts. I can't wait to read the rest when I get done with all my notifications that I am so behind on.

Oh, don't worry. I know how notifications pile up when we aren't here. The Ice Princess texts with all her camper friends, including little Harlow/Kate as she's called. However, she has no idea about her mom or Lionel Richie. She knows who Madonna is, but never knew she skated with her adopted daughter in a show. No need for her to know these things, yet.

Your grandson is well rounded athletically and technologically as well. It will be interesting with the interests of both your grandchildren where they will land career wise, but there's lots of time to think about that. They need to enjoy childhood first. Can't your husband withdraw his bid? Then you won't need to worry about the bidding war. Now that kind of vacation would be perfect for me, the whole place to myself. I could explore without crowds. Yes, you did have a typical day.

@just4him Time will tell what the kids will do. They are still so young and things change so quickly with them. Now our grandson loves tennis and wants to squeeze in lessons along with being his team's goalie. I don't know how he will manage it. lol No condo. The highest bid went $900,000 more than my husband's bid. It was an experience, but he's good with it and I'm happy. I still can't comprehend how much someone was willing to pay for a 1 bedroom!

I hope I live long enough to see how the kids wind up. Right now, my granddaughter can only think of being in the Olympics or a star on Broadway, lol, and my grandson sees himself as a goalie for some major hockey team or a scientist. Kids! LOL! They are young, and can change their minds any minute of course. My husband doesn't want to withdraw his bid. That's the crazy thing! Grrrr! We are still waiting to hear, but he won't up his offer, so that's a good thing. I'm content knowing he won't get the co-op. Imagine a place with a busy season and no one there to bother you?

@DianneN I remember wanting to be a nurse from a very early age. The closest I came was a nurse's aide. Yes, career goals change. With what your grandchildren want to do, they can do both. It would be great if he gets a career as a goalie. But you can only play so long. He'll need to be able to do something else, and what better plan than a scientist since he has a great interest in it? It's the same for the Ice Princess. You can only skate so long, then you need to do something else with your life. That would be heaven. Oh wait, you like the busyness of everything. You social butterfly you. I'm glad he won't be putting in another bid, so that pretty much guarantees you won't get the apartment or condo, or whatever it is he has a bid on.
