You might also recognize him from NCIS: New Orleans, Basmati Blues, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Summertime, Me Him Her, Looking, Caper, Elsa & Fred, NFL Training Video: How Not to Murder People, https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000836/ ... or Behind the Candelabra, Geography Club, Two and a Half Men, Enter the Dangerous Mind, Table for Three, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Source Code, ... or The New Adventures of Old Christine, The Informant!, Guys and Dolls at the Hollywood Bowl, State of the Union, Boston Legal, American Body Shop, Star Trek: Legacy (Video Game), The Ticket, Role of a Lifetime, Late Boomers, ... or What Girls Learn, Life as a House, A Girl Thing, Father Can't Cope, Papa's Angels, The Trial of Old Drum, Above Suspicion, Luminarias, In the Name of the People, American Beauty, Mean Streak, NetForce, ... or Major League: Back to the Minors, Adventures from the Book of Virtues, Mr. & Mrs. Smith (TV Series), Cats Don't Dance, The Bachelor's Baby, Murphy Brown, Prowler, The Invaders, Lord of Illusions, My Family, A Passion to Kill, Nowhere to Hide, Color of Night, Dream On, For Goodness Sake, ... or Flight from Hell, In the Shadow of a Killer, Necessary Roughness, Sibling Rivalry, Eisenhower & Lutz, Designing Women, Matlock, CBS Summer Playhouse, The Last Fling, Gung Ho, My Sister Sam or Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, ... But the performance that stands out for me is his portrayal of Steven Bartowski---the 'deadbeat' (secret agent) father of 'computer-repairman' (secret agent) CHUCK. Actually, what really struck me is 'this one scene' where Steven is captured by the security-team of the software-company whose CEO stole his work and ruined him (where he looks like a crazy old disgruntled geezer), ... and he "transforms" into the secret agent which he always was but -which you never would've guessed he was unless you 'knew to look for signs of it' (kinda like when you re-watch The Sixth Sense after you learn about the twist-ending). What amazes you about Scott Bakula? Or what parts would you like to see him play in the future? (James Bond, Doctor Who's 'The Doctor,' George Bush Sr.)

I liked him in Quantum Leap, so when I heard he had a piece of the NCIS franchise, I started watching that, too.

Brad Dourif as Mentat Piter DeVries ... uploaded to Wikipedia by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:TAnthony
Now that I think about it, he would've been a good Paul Atreides (in DUNE) ... although now, he would be a better Mentat Piter DeVries
