Relaxing on Puget Sound near Seattle!

How did I wind up on Puget Sound on a boat, looking Back at Seattle? I used to live in Seattle, and really enjoyed it there. Actually, I'm only on Puget Sound vicariously. My buddy (the one who records my videos) is up there relaxing with family on his son's sailboat. I'll be heading up to Montana soon, but probably won't make it over to Seattle. Have you been to the Pacific Northwest? It really is quite lovely.

@thehorse Vicarious travel is so inexpensive these days - I get away to all sorts of places just by calling friends and checking where and when they’re going on holiday.

@TheHorse One of my brothers lives in Paris. A phone call takes me right there any time I like, right to Rue Moufftard.

@xFiacre I believe I stayed very near Rue Mouffetard when I visited Paris. I remember a square with shops and street musicians.

I have been three times to Seattle, I like the area, but not Seattle, even if some places are fine.

@TheHorse No, not really, it is busy as every big town. I do not like high buildings and traffic. I prefer smaller towns.

It looks so peaceful there. My brother lives in Oregon but I have never been up that way. Maybe someday.

@TheHorse For some reason, Seattle resonates with me. I think I have some psychic connection with it or something.

@akalinus I think there's a mellow "vibe" there. At least that's what I felt when I lived there.

Portland is a nice city as well. But I really loved Seattle.

It does. But I would love to smell the coastline in Australia and compare it with my experiences in New York and Santa Barbara. There are certain things words and pictures simply can't quite capture.

@JudyEv Sometimes I can get a sense of what a place is like from a photo. But a photo can't capture smells or sounds. Photos from high up don't usually move me.

@TheHorse The photos that disappoint me are the ones where you can see for miles and miles but the photos don't convey that distance. Or if you are really high up and looking down - that never works either.

My nephew and his family live in Woodenville, a suburb of Seattle. They love it! Nope, I've never been there myself. Mom and Dad lived in Seattle, as newly weds. He was in the army. She was a 'Rosie the Riveter' at Boeing Aircraft, an arc welder. Then, they settled in Michigan, where both their families lived.

@TheHorse Mom did welding on the belly of those planes, but she's still considered a 'Rosie the Riveter!' They were the wives that held the fort down on U.S. soil, while their beloved husband were overseas, during WWII. She was a 4'9" stick of dynamite! lol

I haven't been to the Pacific Northwest. There are 12 states I haven't made it to yet, 11 of which are west of the Mississippi. My brother was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, though, and he loved it there.

I think the states I haven't passed through are mostly in the Northeast, like Maine.

Hmmm... does the sound of the surf lull you to sleep at night, pony? I'd love to live close enough to a large body of water so I could hear the waves lapping at the shore all night long. Listening to the different sounds water makes relaxes me... No, I've been to/through quite a few of the different states, but Oregon isn't one of them.

In Seattle, there are certain places where you can stand and see the Olympics to the West and the Cascades to the East.

The neighbour in the house beside us is from Seattle. He came to Germany as a teacher for the American soldiers and then stayed here. He is married to one of the dumbest German women.

@TheHorse Exactly. You've got a good memory. The man must be horribly frustrated this year because last winter there was hardly any snow which he could shovel off the pavement at 6 a.m.

@TheHorse I can't remember it was so long ago. I can tell you that I like Las Vegas, Arizona, Colorado. It was nice to visit those places but to live there is no where like living in Israel.

@TheHorse Someday, someday... What I'd really love to do is to ride Amtrak's Coast Starlight all the way up there and back.
