I admit it, I am a food addict. I love food. I love to chew. I love, love, love to eat. I just can't help myself. I am beginning to think that it is my favorite thing to do.
I can't go on a regular, starve yourself diet because I just plain can't stick to it. That's why the whole 30 diet has been so perfect for me.
I started this diet about 5 months ago and in the last month I have been letting myself have things that are not on the diet. Only a few things. I have still stayed successfully close to the guidelines.
I can't tell you how good this diet is for the food addicts out there. I have been able to eat as much as I want of the things allowed. I love this diet.

Whole 30 is not a weight loss diet. It is an elimination diet that is designed to help you see if you have any food sensitivities. Some people lose weight on it initially because they cut out the crap that they were eating but over time they tend to stop losing because, unless you also cut calories, you will plateau if you "eat as much as you want". It isn't designed for weight loss.

@HazySue yes it can help people lose for the first few months since they are eliminating junk but eventually that stops if there isn’t some other type of plan (Weight Watchers, counting calories, etc) in place. You can’t just eat “as much as you want” on Whole30 and expect magically to lose weight forever. Food has a caloric value and, if you take in too many calories, you won’t lose weight and you might even gain. . . especially since you can’t exercise.
It isn’t a weight loss plan. That was not what it was designed for at all. Be careful.

I have been on a "diet" of sorts, where I've been trying to avoid excessive amounts of fat, which for me has meant cutting out dairy and red meat (per the doctor's orders). I've eaten a little fat here and there, but trying not to to the amount I was. Walking a lot too.

@xstitcher I've found cutting out dairy and the other foods not allowed on the Whole30 diet has been a good thing for me. I have more energy, and I'm healthier than I have ever been because I'm eating right.

Also the Scarsdale Diet allowed you to eat as much as you wanted of "allowed" food. This is the only diet that worked for me. When we visited the United States, every time I came back with 4 extra pounds that I usually lost in the following 15 days following the Scarsdale.

It is the perfect diet. I'm glad you're still on it. I've looked at the Paleo as well. It's closely related to Whole30 and I'm thinking about incorporating it with the Whole30. One reason would be I can have Stevia again and honey. Not in large quantities, but just a little. More for my tea than anything else. Paleo does limit carbs though, and potatoes would be completely out of the picture. That would be hard for me.
