At Home in Packers Country

I know, I know. Where have I been all day? Not here, is obvious. So, what have I been doing with my day? As usual, I was up before 3 AM, left by 4:30, and arrived at the Y at 4:40 AM. I was in the pool shortly after 5, and in the fitness center by 6:35. I did 45 leg presses at 60 pound pressure, and 7 minutes on the elliptical. So, added a minute. Then it was Wal-Mart to get eggs, I get the 5 doz. box, those don't break, some tp, and an Elvis movie bundle - 5 movies in one, including Roustabout, so now I can watch the movie I thought I had seen, but realized I haven't. Home to work on Thread of Evidence. I was hoping to start the publishing process this weekend, but that's on hold. My son won't start working on the map until Friday. I have less than 200 pages to read through and edit. It's going well. The yawns started, so it was a nap, though this time a power nap of 45 minutes. Up, took care of tonight's writing assignment for Writer's Guild, then off to my son's to do laundry. I'm now home, and have 2.5 hours to get notifications finished before I need to leave for Writer's Guild. My words for this month's writing assignment were: shlep, klutz, and bluff. I didn't have a clue how I was going to use those words in a 100 word paragraph, so I ended up taking liberties. Here's my offering this month. “You know what you are, Charlie Brown. You’re a shlep,” said Lucy. “A shlep? What’s a shlep?” said Charlie Brown. “A shlep is a drag. You’re a drag, Charlie Brown, a real loser. A klutz, just look at that kite. You can’t even get it off the ground,” said Lucy. Charlie Brown looked at Linus. “Am I a shlep, Linus?” “I don’t think so, Charlie Brown. What you need to do is show her you can fly that kite.” “Ha, ha, ha, you couldn’t even bluff your way into making me believe you could fly that kite,” said Lucy. Total word count 99. So, that's been my day, with what's still to come. How was your day? Thanks for reading.

I was busy online most of the day. When it was time to cook supper I had the twins go to the kitchen with me and they worked on their ABC's while I cooked. Keith got home from work around 3 pm and we ate supper before the Speech Therapist arrived at 4:30. She was very early yesterday. After she left we spent some time together and then it was bath time for the kids and time to start settling down for the evening. Of course, I worked online a bit more after they went to their room. Notice, I didn't say went to bed, they never fall asleep on time.

@just4him I did, the only bad thing is that it rained again and Lil Keith couldn't go to football practice.

I don't know a kid who does fall asleep on time. You had a good day.

I've heard of klutz but I've never heard of schlep. A new word for me.

It was a new one for me too. I have a box of Word Teasers I picked up at the museum here during our author event in April. It's had some amazing results with the group. I forget what words I chose from the box last night, but I do have them written down.

@JudyEv It is fun, and everyone gets their own three words from the box. Making a short 100-word story with those three words can have some interesting results.

Very good job, I have always hated Lucy, poor Charlie Brown, he was not the smartest guy, but she was terrible.

Yes, but they last a long time - the eggs. I still need to do my shopping and will pick up another two boxes. It will last the month, and I don't need to go shopping every couple of days. Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.

You did very well with those words. If I am not mistaken I think Roustabout is about a circus. I watched it maybe 20 years ago.

Actually it is a carnival. I thought it was a circus when I did the circus series. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

What you wrote is very cute. We looked into going to the Y and they wanted $7 per hour. We are thinking of going back and seeing if they have Senior discounts. We can not afford $7 per hour each.

I would have written about having to schlep something somewhere and then tripping because I was a klutz. (not that I am but that's what immediately popped into my head) Bluff seems pretty easy to use too.

Bluff was the easy word. I tried a couple scenarios that didn't work for the other two words.
