What wakes you when asleep?

I can sleep through anything and have: a tornado in Memphis, an earthquake in Santa Monica: a few hurricanes in Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Only 2 things can keep me awake or wake me up and that is 1) light and/or 2) heat--even during winter I have to have the air conditioner on low but it is light that is my sleep enemy! Since March 28th when they put new hurricane windows in my apartment, especially the bedroom, I would wake up at the crack of dawn light no matter what time I went to sleep. Finally last week they put up the blinds. This week I taped up my old blackout drapes under the new wine colored blackout drapes I got! The 2 pictures attached were taken after I got the double drapes up--the first is with a night light and the last, if you look you will see a red glow from the outlet, is completely dark at 3 PM in the afternoon!! I can sleep again!!!

@xander6464 take it easy then, maybe it is not the noise neither light but it is the worry that keeps you awake.

My brain and all the things I have done and not done for the last 62 yrs. My brain picks the most inconvenient times to start thinking like 3AM lol Those double drapes are awesome!

I usually prefer total dark place before I sleep. I hate the heat as well, but if it's black out, there's nothing i could do buy sleep.

@GreatMartin Me to. I love a nice nap but can do it sitting up on the couch or lying down on the bed. I cam also sleep in the car when we take trips. I don't need to lie down but I do like a light blanket over me. I have always loved to sleep.

I need light to sleep. I have a lamp in the corner that gives a low kind of light and it is on all night. I like it when I wake up to see what is around me. As for what wakes me up if not naturally that is my cat Sid who comes into the room about 5 or 6 AM and meows at the top of his lungs. It either means pet me or feed me.

I can walk my whole house with the lights out and get around without hitting anything. I always said I was nocturnal.

I can't sleep in total darkness - and the slightest sound will awaken me.

Sounds don't bother me--other people in my bedroom do--it is off limits!! (Maybe that's why I live alone )

I can sleep in either dark or light. If I want to sleep I can. I can also wake up by myself. My husband will ask me what time to set the alarm and I tell him I do not need it. Tell me when you want to get up and I will be ready.

An alarm clock doesn't work for me--luckily I have a built-in alarm that always gets me up when I NEED to get up!

That is the only reason I get up at night and that is because I drink a lot of water everyday.
