What do you bring with you when you travel?

So I read an article about how Britons would travel abroad on vacation or a business trip bringing along their English tea bags. That survey was conducted by a car company in Britain actually and according to their studies, half of the Britons would bring tea bags as their comfort thing when travelling. In my case, I can't go anywhere without my skin care and cosmetics. I feel comfortable traveling knowing I have my skin care and cosmetics with me. Toiletries? I can buy then anywhere I go. Same with clothes and underwear. But my skin care and cosmetics? I'm not sure if the places I go to have them plus they're on the pricey side and not easy to get just anywhere. So what's your comfort thing you bring along with you when traveling?

Some Australians take their Vegemite with them when they go overseas. For me, it's probably having a book to read or a puzzle book so I won't be stuck with nothing to do if I have to wait somewhere.

@hereandthere I'm sure there are a few but I haven't met too many. Lots of foreigners don't seem to be able to get a taste for it.

@toniganzon ~I don't fly much anymore as it is expensive these days. Besides taking a trip by car has it's advantages. Before the cellphone came along, I always traveled with my Minolta 35mm S.L.R.and a couple different lens, my flash, batteries and extra film. When traveling by car, I often like to stop when I see something that I want to capture on film. I call them "photo opps". I am infamous for being an over packer. Sometimes, I have even brought my own pillow and toilet paper. Motels don't always have the best toilet paper.

I have read in that article that most people are actually over packers and it's not a surprise at all. I'm so used to traveling light even when I go to another country.

@toniganzon yes, I bring it wherever I go ... because I am a coffee drinker but I am not a fan of fancy coffee shops.

Same as you and my anti-mosquitoes cream. I can buy toiletries and clothing everywhere, shoes is another matter, more difficult think to find.

When travelling I usually just bring two pairs of shoes. One that I'm wearing and another extra pair. I usually travel light.

@LadyDuck Fortunately the hotels I have been in usually provide slippers. The disposable ones. But we barely stay in the hotel room anyway.

I do not fly. I like a good hand lotion, dental care items. Moisturizer with sun screen. Makeup, but I likely will not use it. Comfortable shoes. Earrings. Snack and cough drops or mints.

whenever i come home from Kuwait (1986-1990), i brought along my clothes, but my brother said i should leave my clothes there and i can just buy clothes here. i did not listen. i usually had a Vicks inhaler. i guess that was one thing that i cannot leave home without.
