I graduated BS in Computer Science, which means i should be programming and in the IT business. Currently I am programming, just a teeny tiny bit, but mostly not I haven't really applied a lot of the subjects I learned in school though. What about you?

I want to pursue teaching but I haven't decided if I can study while working. I need education units so I can apply

@lady1993 That is correct. I worked as a prof years ago as my part time job but only taught college students for 1 sem.

My degree is a BSBA with a concentration in Accounting and I did work in accounting and public accounting for 12 years before becoming a teacher. I taught Middle School math for 15 years and my accounting and business background helped me give the math context. Now I teach 4th grade and there is very little I teach that has much to do with accounting.

My missus, on the other hand, earned the same degree I did and has been working in the accounting field for 30 years.

@lady1993 She fusses about her work all the time, but when I suggest she quit and try something else, she insists she really likes her work.

The gap between academe and workplace is so wide, in my experience. I got rusty doing what I do now. It is a lot easier because it is open book but too stressful. A lot of other skills are required which you were not trained for in school.
