Too Sad for the Whale Shark

Yesterday, I heard the news on television about a whale shark that died after it ate plastics. It is called "butanding" in our native tounge and it is commonly seen in shores of some provinces of the Philippines. People who investigated the cause of death saw lots of plastic wastes inside the whale shark's tummy. I wish all people would be responsible enough, or even governments be responsible in handling plastic wastes. We can, in our own little way, minimize plastic wastes or at least dispose it the proper way so it will not end up in the oceans.

The seas and the oceans are full of plastic. Plastic should be banned all over the world.

It should be; it is the political will of all the government leaders; and for the manufacturers to comply.

This is terrible! Whale sharks are beautiful, gentle creatures. How does all this plastic end up in the ocean, anyway? We bury our garbage in landfills. Do some countries just chuck it into the ocean?

It is so sad to tell, that it happens here in my country; although there are landfills but still some of the plastics end up in the seas.

@acelawrites - That probably happens to some extent here, too--the wind will carry something like that away, and of course some people are nasty and throw things in the water or on the beach. There's nothing nastier than throwing garbage into our beautiful nature!

@AliCanary I agree, and I hate people doing it without thinking of the consequences of their acts.

It is really saddening that we wanted to survive yet there are other creatures who suffer.

I think soon most of our mammals will die like that and we would be the only ones left facing this end.

We would still be lucky to reach that point when humans can still survive.

I have heard plastics are dangerous to sea creatures. That is sad to hear indeed.

Really saddening; knowing that there are people who care less for the environment.

It is serious indeed when the vast oceans are so full of plastic that sea animals are dying.

We really worry about it; when news of that kind come, and it shows people's neglect for other creatures.
