I Thought It Was A Hurricane!

Last night I was awakened in the middle of the night by a loud crash. Thunder and
lightning were going on all around the house. The loud crash was the lightning hitting a tree across the road. Fortunately, there were no houses around it. The wind and rain were blowing hard and the lights flickered a few times. Fortunately, no power outages and no damage in our area or so it seems. I cannot see the tree that was hit but I do feel sorry for it.
I was really scared because the thunder and lightning were very bad. No one else in the house woke up. 
They could all sleep during a hurricane! After it calmed down a bit I finally went back to sleep.
Now here it is 2:30 in the afternoon and we have another storm going. We have had quite a bit of rain this season, I hope the area does not flood.

It has rained so much here this summer as well. It is only the 5th day of school for my daughter and they had a two hour delay due to a power outage after a storm last night.

We have had a lot of rain this summer but fortunately, not much of it was accompanied by thunder and lightning.

I woke up this morning to a thunderstorm and we had more storms on and off as day. Lately the lightening seems more fierce

You could try sending that rain my way. We need more than the spotty showers we've been getting.
I'm sorry the storm woke you and the tree got hit by lightning. It's good there weren't any houses around it. I'm like the rest of your family. I wouldn't have heard it, just seen the effects when I got up.
