I fell and hit my head. After that I cursed. The doctor was angry at me.

In the eye doctor's office I fainted after he gave me eye drops. When my vision became blurred, I fainted and fell back against the chair and went unconscious. Shortly after I regained consciousness and I said "DAMN" - and the doctor told me, "Don't curse in my office!" - while I lay on the floor bleeding. I was offended by the doctor for two reasons. 1. For correcting my language. 2. For not warning me that my eyes would become blurred after applying the eye drops. I had to have stitches in the back of my head because of it. Ever wonder why some people are more interested in one single word than the entire nature of a circumstance such as this? It's like having a nice conversation and suddenly someone drops the F-bomb and no matter what else they say, the other person is totally offended by that one word that they apparently lose interest in everything else that was just said. People need to be less critical of others as to using one F-bomb or in my case, D-bomb and get over themselves being superior minded. I know that if you are not saying it out loud, you are surely thinking it.

This is too bad. How did he dare to correct your language when what happened to you was caused by him?

@LadyDuck , I am also glad about that. You know he once said, "You are the one son who I expect the most to succeed." I respected his positive opinion of me at that time.

I imagine he was simply offended by my use of the D-bomb. He thought it was basically my fault that I fainted. Trying to put blame on me and I was totally a victim in this case. But I figure he had issues more serious from a mental standpoint and I did not argue with him. My father drove me to get stitches and drove me back home. I think my father understood my grief in this situation.

That's bad that he didn't give you a fair warning! You fainted and were bleeding - and that was all that he could say? Damn, what a jerk of a doctor!

That reminds me of the time a mother at Walmart not paying attention, almost let her two kids in the shopping cart roll off the curb and into the street. I grabbed the cart and said a curse word. I said, your kids almost fell off the curb and into the street. "She said well, you didn't have to swear." I should have said..sure next time I will let them get hurt..I mean, I think Thank You was in order and your doctor should have been more sympathetic as well!

He really should tell you that , after using eyedrop, the eye can become blurred. It is his negligence that he did not do so.

I am easy to freak out. Once at another doctor's examination, a doctor numbed my throat to insert a device to determine if I had GERD and I fainted then too. I told the doctor I did not want anything shoved down my throat and if there were any other test that could be done, and it later turned out I had an upper GI and it did not go well either. I was determined to have GERD after a double barium swallow. It was gastly. The worst experience I had and I have terrible anxiety with doctors. My blood pressure rises and my pulse increases just because I have so many phobias about doctors and nurses to the point I avoid them like the plague.

Holy smokes you would think the doctor would have been concerned with your well being especially if you were bleeding.

I think he thought I was wimping out. I more or less was taken by surprise by his altruistic response to my falling and injuring my head. I lost consciousness for a brief period of time. First by fainting, and secondly, after hitting the back of my head. I am only glad I have a hard head.

...you were a LOT nicer than I would have been in those circumstances. Talk about an absolutely misplaced reaction, sheesh. It's impossible to tell from a second hand account like this, but it almost sounds like he's trying to cover his rear by somehow shifting the blame around onto you instead of the fact that he neglected to tell you about the side effects. There are a lot of review sites where you can report complaints about medical practitioners if you choose to. Just search for the guy's name and specialty with the word review added; if it's a common name you can narrow it down with the practice address to make sure it's the right one. Are you planning to send him the bill for the stitches?

I am sorry, but, I failed to mention it happened many years ago, but that painful memory resurfaced.during a recent conversation I was having before I wrote this post.

Being the smart rear-end (there, doc, I didn't curse) I am, I probably would've said, "So sue me. I'm certainly going to sue you!"

I was too young. Only 18 years old at the time. I had no idea I had any type of legal case. So that is why it went without going to court.

He would have got a few more bombs from me after that remark. And maybe even a letter from an attorney in the near future. He really should have had you sitting down and ready for the blurriness

It is a memory I really need to forget. I should not have even brought it up. I have tried to get the memory out of my head for the past day or so. But I will move forward and try to focus on the good things that happen in my life. Thanks.

OMG glad that it was not a recent occurrence. But yes the doctor should have ignored the cussing and be concerned with how you are feeling and to send you to the hospital etc.

I don't know who actually paid for the medical expenses. Maybe he did pay for it, but I seriously doubt it. That part of it is basically a bit blurry in my memory. Perhaps I suffered from memory loss from that fall? Who knows.

Damn isn’t even a bad word. I’d never go back to that doctor ever again and let him know why. I’d also let him know that his negligent actions caused you to have to get stitches.

True, I was angry by his reaction to that one D-bomb and after that I never was able to forget about it. Thanks for the comment.
