It worked! Why my visit to the dentist was a good one

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how I'd been using my electric toothbrush timer to encourage myself to do my knee strengthening exercises. I knew it was doing my knees good but it's hard to judge positive impact on your teeth.
On Friday I went to see my dentist. Last time I saw him 6 months ago he tortured me with his tools and scrapers AND made me do an appointment 3 months later with the hygienist. It was costing me a fortune. I assumed that he'd torture me again this time - as I've never been to see him and not had the 'scale and polish' after the examination.
I lay in the chair and listened to him calling out numbers to his assistant. I knew they were good numbers and were better by a long way than last time, but I still expected the post exam scraping. But no! I got out of the chair without any of that and with praise for the improvement. I told him it was down to my knees and asked him not to laugh but he was very supportive and said that anything that encourages you to take more care of your teeth has to be a good thing.
I was in and out in about 10 minutes and with a tiny bill to pay. I'm feeling very motivated to keep it up.

Well done you. I'm due for a new crown early in September - not my favourite procedure but as dentists go I don't have a 'favourite' just a 'least awful'.
