In France twelve months ago

Twelve months ago we were dining at a lovely little restaurant in Availles-Limouzine in central western France. We had been to the restaurant several years before with friends and we had vowed to return one day. We had never had service or food like we did at this place. We were given free appetisers before choosing our courses and at the end of our meal we were presented with more free tiny sweet morsels to finish with. The food was all locally sourced and we had some jet-black bread which we were told was coloured by ink from either cuttlefish or squid. I forget which now. This is a photo of the dessert we had on this day a year ago. It seems much, much longer ago as so many things have happened in the intervening twelve months. Are you able to say exactly what you were doing this time last year?

Thanks to Facebook, I get daily reminders of what I did last year. However, I can't remember what I did yesterday.

No...not really but that is great to remember. Is it special reason you remember the day and time?

I knew we were overseas and I was wondering where so I checked the 'details' on my photo files and found the photos taken on this date 12 months ago.

The bread is coloured by ink from the cuttlefish, it is the same ink we use in Italy for black risotto. I cannot believe it's already one year ago.

@LadyDuck It's a good sign isn't it? I have another similar one that I used for a discussion. I'd forgotten about this one. This dog is not so fussy. He takes on all types of visitors.

I know, it seems forever doesn't it? And yesterday in 2015 we were in Osterwieck and I was taking photos of 'Beware of the Dog' signs!

@judyev Must also note that when my wife took me to a posh hotel for my 60th birthday we were given a complimentary amuse-bouche which consisted of a single prawn nestled in a scraping of sauce and sitting in the middle of an enormous plate. Very ostentatious, and we don’t eat prawns.

@JudyEv Oh I was most galante and said "Oh, yummy, my favourite" and ate my wife's also. I didn't like to offend.

@xFiacre That was nice of you. I would have hated sending it back but I would have been thinking what a waste of a huge plate to plonk just one prawn on it.

Amuse-bouche? Is that what it's called? Yes that does sound very ostentatious. All that trouble and you both said 'ugh'.

It is so nice that you could revisit the place. Free appetizers and free tiny sweet morsels..they seem to bee too good with their guests. Last year at this time, I had gone for a family vacation to Chikkamaglur, a small hill station in Karnataka, India. But i do not remember what we did on this day. It was a 4 day vacation that we planned during August mid term break around our Independence day 15th Aug. That is vaguely I can remember of!!

@arunima25 Because I take so many and use them so often here I have them in folders so they are sort of sorted. But I still have trouble finding the ones I want from time to time.

@JudyEv I will also find date on photo. But that would be tiresome as I have not organized them since a long time.

If I open my planner from last year, I would certainly know what I did exactly 12 years ago. But my old planners aren't near me at the moment and I couldn't remember any significant happening on this very same day last year.

@JudyEv I have a collection of planner journal. I used about 10 in a year for different purposes. We actually call ourselves the planner addicts. We collect traveler's notebooks, etc from different brands including designer ones.

Anyone who keeps a diary or journal would be able to look back at what they were doing. A planner would work too.

I can't tell what was I doing this time last year. I think I am a very forgetful person. If it's not a very important thing. I don't usually remember.

I was in India looking after my mother. I have not traveled much over the last two years. My trip to Europe two years ago was an eye-opener as I could see buildings and paintings centuries old - siva
