MY God! They cut back on how many corn dogs they put in a box!

Instead of getting 6 corn dogs in a box, the manufacturer has cut it back to only FIVE! Give me a break already. Would you like it if they put only ELEVEN eggs in a dozen? or ELEVEN DONUTS in a dozen? Sheez. What next? single hot dogs and packs of 2 slices of bread???

Seen that with a lot of things. Just raise the price and be done because they are going to anyways.

@lookatdesktop Dog and cat food is the same way. The large bags used to always be 50 pounds. Now they are 35 to 40 for most brands and the price still went up after a couple of months anyways.

@wolfgirl569 , Yep. But I think Kroger & Walmart has some 50 pounders still.

That is the main thing. People still want half a dozen or a dozen of the other. Not 3, or 5.

It's the same here. When it is necessary to raise prices. Some manufacturers do not raise prices, but cut quantities.

I think they still put 2 scoops of raisins in a box of Kellogg's Raisin Bran. But maybe they are smaller scoops.

@lookatdesktop ~That isn't all. They no longer sell 5 pound bags of sugar or flour they are 4 pound bags. Bleach is sold in 3 quart containers instead of gallons. Big Mac's and Whopper's are smaller, too! Almost everything is in smaller sized package but the prices go up not down!

You can't even split that box evenly for 2 people. We are a family of 4 - and I was annoyed that at the grocery store, ice cream on a stick mostly come in boxes of 3 .

That's how they get around having to raise prices.

Sometimes it is cheaper to buy in bulk. But canned tuna, for instance in a very large institutional size can would not keep well after opening. It would be best in some cases to buy cases of regular size cans from a food club in any event.

Yes to all of the above. Reducing weight and number has been going on gradually for years.

It only works if you can afford to buy 2 of everything and end up with extras. I would pay more to keep getting 6 in a box. How you gonna divide them evenly? Not.

@scarlet_woman , But of course, sold by weight not volume. And they are almost impossible to open without spilling them all or crushing them in the process.

Yea. Those candy bars, and bags of chips at the checkout stands are a joke. You really have to look for larger packages on the main candy and chips aisles.

Just look for the mark-downs. They sell mark-down meats that are perfectly fine, in early mornings. To clear space for their new inventory. Look for special mark-downs in your local grocery store.Oh yea, the Philippines are somewhat different. In any case, you can look for specials in any case.

I buy boxes of steaks and you used to get six in a box and now you only get five in a box. Which means I get three and my husband only gets steak twice..

@rakski , The world is shrinking and most are not paying any attention. But I know you are and so am I and a handful of others. Oh well, life was never perfect anyway, so taking it all in stride is all anyone of us can do and roll with the punches, so to speak.

They are even cutting back on canned bisuits. Nobody was looking while they shrank the size of airplane seats. Even parking spaces are shrinkig in some areas. And don't get me talking about stadum seating or movie theaters. Well, actually movie theaters, if they still exist, began to actually widen their seating.

On the contrary, have you ever lucked out and found extra product in a box? For instance, I've come across 14 pierogies in a 12 count box and an extra tortilla shell or two in taco packs. I love it when that happens!
