Bangers and Mash and an empty bar

It is not often that I visit bars these days but last night was an exception. We were out enjoying a concert at the park and had planned to eat there. However, found out the kitchen had closed due to the heat - they told us.
The concert ended at 9 PM so we stopped at an English style pub close to home to see if we could get something quick to eat. The parking lot was empty so we thought they might be closed. When we got to the door they were opened, TV's on sports channels and music blaring but except for us, there was no one else in the bar.
I asked the server if they had food at that time and she handed be a large menu. Of course we are in a bar so we had a beer while waiting for our food. My husband had the Bangers and Mash – an English dish consisting of sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy.
It was nice to have an entire bar to ourselves and one server attending to all our needs. Not to mention the cook who made our meals just for us. No one else entered the bar while we were there. Have you ever been the only person or family in a bar or restaurant? Have you ever had Bangers and Mash

We live in a sleepy suburb and seems like everyone goes to bed early especially on a Sunday night. I too wondered if the server would make enough tips for the night.

@Freelanzer Perhaps it's a bit worse for restauranteurs here as we don't tip. Everyone gets a minimum wage so if no-one comes in they get the same amount of money.

@JudyEv I think that is the best way to go.

I hadn't known much about it until then but seems it is a popular English dish

Sometimes we meet this kind of situation, the whole restaurant is just us.

Feels good but I feel sorry for the server who may not make enough tips.

No I didn't ask. I know the previous day they had a large event there. The area I live is a very sleepy neighborhood so I guess there are not too many bar hoppers around.

I don't think I've ever been in a venue on my own.
As for bangers and mash I've had it hundreds of times

I guess you are one of the few who responded who knows about bangers and mash. Could it be because you live in the country of its origin?

@Freelanzer That could be the case
Shame more people don't try it as it's relatively cheap and, when done right, a very tasty meal.
Over here it's an institution along with pie and mash...there are at least 3 places in my city that purely serve pie and mash and bangers and mash but there is a great variety of pies, sausages, gravy and mash.

No...but I would definitely not eat that. I need a lot of spices and vegetarian fare. On dad's birthday, we went to an eatery outside, it was great as far as interiors went. Horrible food. I could say bland..hospital food. Pity we won't be going there ever.

I wouldn't either as I am vegetarian but the rest of my family excluding one son, are all meat eaters.

Yes when you have only one table to serve it is a lot quicker to get service.
