How many people can tell me what this is?

An on-line selling site, LetGo's automated labeling system listed a rotary dial wall phone as a "White & Grey Electronic device". Apparently, there isn't some one to correct errors like that or people don't know what a telephone looks like. You don't need to go to a museum or a history book, even if you never seen one in use, you probably seen one watching TV shows or movies. Being a "Baby Boomer", we used to use these in our houses.

@hereandthere ~At the moment, I don't have a landline, just a cellphone. I miss having a landline because I have some cool phones, like my Darth Vader, R2D2 and Snoopy "Joe Cool" phones.

@hereandthere ~As a matter of fact, there is a green wall phone just like that in the living room of the main characters in the U.S. sitcom, "2 Broke Girls".

@flpoolbum it still has its uses here. however, i don't like that it's now interconnected - the internet, landline and cable. in the past, you can still use the telephone even when there's a blackout.

@yoalldudes ~I'm old, too. Look at all of the wonderful stuff that has been developed. My Mom was born in 1923. Her Dad had a dairy farm and they had the only phone in town. It was one of those brown wooden wall phones with the mouthpiece attached to the base and a corded ear piece. She was amazed at everything that has come out, including one of those electronic signs on the expressways. It advises drivers of accidents that are ahead in real time.

It is interesting that someone would say something like this. It is interesting how very few even have land lines in their homes anymore, and would own a phone. I remember the dial ones where you had to dial someone's number. Many times even though calling long distance was very expensive, many times I long for those easier days again

@KrauseHome ~I remember, long distance was so expensive that we only used it for emergences. We also had to rent phones from Ma Bell. If you didn't pay extra for a private line, you had to have a party line. We had the rotary dials and the very last one was "0" for "Operator".

@sol_cee ~Yes, they still exist. My brother-in-law kept using his for a long time after touch tone phones came out. We agree that we shouldn't have to pay extra for touch tone service and at the time it was an extra charge.

How do they make money with such errors?

@aureliah ~I'm wondering why the person who is selling the phone didn't correct it. Those are considered antiques now. Even if the seller didn't know, it would have said owed by "Bell Telephone Company" on the back. Back in those days, Bell owed all of the telephones, you had to rent the phones from the phone company. That was before they had modular plugs.
