Retro flashback: "Walk Away" James Gang (1971)

I was struck by the psychedelic vibe of this video of the James Gang performing “Walk Away” though the psychedelic era was over by 1971. It is the visual style with the colors. “Seems to me You don’t want to talk about it Seems to me You just turn your pretty head and walk away” “Walk Away” is the James Gang’s best known song and written by Joe Walsh who started his career with the band. In 1966, drummer Jim Fox formed the James Gang in Cleveland and there was a revolving door of personnel. Walsh joined in 1968 after auditioning. They eventually became a power trio. Walsh exited in 1971 having grown weary of carrying the artistic load. The band carried on for awhile with more changes until ending. There have been James Gang reunions with Walsh. “Walk Away” is on the albums “Thirds” and “Live on Concert.” The song only reached Billboard #51 which is lower than remembered as I heard it on the radio frequently when it was a hit.
