He Decided What To Do

Tony used to be so bad about lending money to family, and it was rare they paid him back or they did so in payments, he never actually felt he got it back so he could use the same chunk sum for something he had wanted. He is really fed up with that behavior. When Tony asked what would I do with the products I am making if they did not sell I politely told him "Christmas baskets," because I want all of the products to be fresh and I will not allow them to sit more than a couple month, although they have a long shelf life. As he sat and painted a canvas, yes he has to sit to paint, he said " I know what I am giving out for Christmas." I love homemade gifts, to me they have more meaning that a store bought gift. So if you are making gifts for Christmas, have you started?

I also love homemade gifts, but this year we are doing nothing at all for Christmas. Now that my mom is no more, there will not be a family reunion.

@andriaperry My only family is my brother, who is not the best person in this world. My husband has no brothers or sisters and both his parents are no more. I think that the best is to find a nice hotel and spend the Christmas holidays there.

@LadyDuck We traveled to Canada one year at Christmas. We found it almost impossible to find a restaurant that was open cause of course the employees wanted to be home.

The best I ever got was this crocheted dining room table dollie, it was huge and so pretty. I still have it and its almost 30 years old. And a homemade quilt .

@thislittlepennyearns I have made those too, I have to say I have made more baby gift baskets than any kind. However, I did not make the products. I really hate baby showers so I always sent mine ahead of the planned shower.

@andriaperry I used to. On my son's side the girls his stepdaughters just want gift cards, they never say thank you. My daughter's kids are due some home made items from me. We also already made memories and packed Christmas Child boxes at my house for them to share this fall through their church. Hubby and I will choose some place special to go together to celebrate. I literally have not thought much about Christmas yet.

We're conflicted on Christmas. We'll be moving in a few years and sure don't want to have to pack more. I do write a short story based on a Christmas theme. Daughter illustrates, hubby binds it. We have given that out to folks and for sure its home done and home made. Maybe we'll keep it at that and for a gift between hubby and me, something not so fun gift like getting the electric connection to the dryer fixed.

@andriaperry The dryer works. Its just that there are bare wires!! The guy who owned our home before us liked to save money and many times when he did a job or found a cheapo to do the job, it was a poorly done job. We paid a ton of money to get the water heater installed but its done according to code and done right. No funky wires left out to fry a person.

I'm not crafty in that way. I wish I were. So, no homemade gifts from me, unless I'm giving out my books to family. We'll see on that one.

I've made some rose sugar and some homemade vanilla extract. I'd like to make some limoncello but may not get around to that one. I'll probably give away the sugar and extract with a jar of homemade rosemary almonds or marinated spiced feta.

Sounds wonderful! I did make lemon, lime, orange and strawberry extract and rose water this summer. But I may keep those for my own use. How long does it take to make the limoncello?

I think that receiving a gift from your store will be something that your family members will just love. And its will be great feedback for you as well. I haven't really given much thought to Christmas gifts just yet. Our son and his wife will be celebrating their first wedding anniversary later this month, which I do not know what we are giving them. In September both our son and his wife have their birthdays, and again, no ideas for gifts there either. And our anniversary is in the beginning of October, and nope......no ideas for that either. After all of that is figured out, then I'll get around to thinking about the Christmas gifts.
