I flunked the doggie diet course. Last year we took Leah dog into the docs and had him give her new knees. We were warned: Leah weighs 85 pounds. Do not allow her to put on more weight. The weight will be hard on her new and used parts. Yup. You guessed it. This morning I took her in for her yearly vaccinations. We've cut Leah's food intake to 3 cups instead of 4. She chases the neighbor dogs at a good clip. And yes, she stepped onto the doggie scale. Holy batman and robin!!! Ninety-nine pounds. I've written it. I admit it. My Leah is not only a big gal but also well, a fat gal. She must be sneaking cat food and Sally dog food at night. We are going to have to stop having any food of any sort out anywhere at night.

Our dog Stryder used to sneak across the alley and the manager of the convenience store would give him food.

@marguicha We do. We cut back her food so she got hungry and started sneaking chow from others.

It's the lab in her, they love to eat. 99 shouldn't be that heavy considering that she is a lab mix, some get as big as 110 or more.

They might want to check her thyroid too. That can cause weight gain.

@wolfgirl569 That's a great question. The thyroid can be a real issue.

Oh goodness. That is a lot of pounds for her to lose now. There needs to be a Weight Watchers for doggies.

@thislittlepennyearns No. Leah was lanky the first two years. A couple of years ago she broke both her knees so she had surgery and now can run but doesn't near as much as before that surgery.
