When money helps others. Million of dollars.

I just read a post asking what charitable thing would we do if we had millions of dollars. It reminded me of a Chilean entrepreneur, Felipe Cubillos, who did a lot, even giving his life, after the 2010 earthquake and tsunami. He not only gave his money, but asked his friends to give too to rebuild after the 2010 earthquake. Many fishermen lost all after the tsunami. He did not build shacks, he got fishing boats for the fishermen and the built the kind of houses they had before. Their living space was in the first floor and in the second, looking at the bay, there were small restaurants where the fishermen´s wives sold fish dishes. He had schools rebuilt in rural areas. He died in an airplane accident when he was going to visit the damages at the Juan Fernández Islands. Many people here remember him and I wish I could help like that, should I have the means. Would you want to be remembered by the amount of money you had or by what you did with it?

What a wonderful man! I know he wasn't doing it for fame - but out of the kindness of his heart. Still, I would like to know if the government has recognised him in anyway, like his family being given a posthumous award for his great service to the community.

He is a kind and loving person. He deserves to be remembered. We should all do our best to help those in trouble.
