Wax in Apples

I love apples.
I eat it every now and then. I usually rub the skin with a knife to remove the fruit wax. I try to scratch off as much as I can. In the photo, it seemed like I can make a small candle if I'll scratch 5 apples more.
Have you tried doing the same?

I peel all fruit nowadays. They put too much pesticides in them.

Why do you do that? Some apples ooze out this waxy shine but it is completely natural. I've talked to a woman at our local farmers' market how come that the apples she sells are so shiny. I asked her if she sends her children to the basement of the house as a punishment and tells them to rub the apples until they shine. We laughed about that idea.
What is more important is if the apples are treated with chemicals while they're growing. I'm happy to be able to buy untreated apples. The orchards in our area are regularly checked by people who allow the farmers to sell their apples as organic food.

No, I do not eat the skin for some reasons like avoiding unwanted chemicals in it. We do not know how they handle the fruit to make it last long. Or you can just wash it well.

Is it really wax or just some oil which the fruit vendors rub on apples and other fruits to make them look fresh and attractive to buyers? We buy apples sometimes but we have not experienced having wax on them. We do wash the apples thoroughly, and any other fruit for that matter, before we eat them.

Oh my, I wasn't doing that at all every time I eat an apple. I just wash it and rub it vigorously while washing it under the faucet.

It was mine. I scraped it like a scratch card. You can try doing the same when you buy a very shiny apple.

Hello @moichan I rather eat them than use it as wax. Unless some one made an apple candle.

I think so too and you're pretty lucky to have access in buying unwaxed apples.

I'm not sure. Yes in all I've bought so far. I haven't seen an apple without thick wax.
