What do our cats do when we're not around?

Last week Milo came home smelling of cigarette smoke and looking very guilty. I don't think the bigger boy cats have been leading him astray so my guess is that he's been visiting a person who smokes. His predecessor, Baloo, used to come home smelling of other women's perfume. So I'm no stranger to feline wandering ways.
My neighbour's cat Freddy is a big fluffy ginger boy with very long fur. His humans just came home from holiday and found that Freddy is looking very handsome. They think he's been groomed and trimmed but they have no idea who has been looking after him.
Freddy is the scarediest scaredy cat I've ever met. He once spent 24 hours under one of the beds in our house because he was too scared to come out and face my cats. So he's not normally the type to go visiting people.
It's quite the mystery.

There is a great YouTube clip of a cat continually pushing the flush button on the toilet and watching the water swirl around. The owners couldn't work out why the water bill was so high so they installed a camera. As you say, who knows what they get up to?

That is really funny. My sister had a cat who was thrilled with the water swishing in the toilet. Every time someone flushed he was right there.. She would catch him in there swishing the water around trying to duplicate the "swirl."

I'm sure Milo has encountered many people while on his adventures. Maybe he's hanging out at the local firehouse?

@boiboing We are quite sure that someone is feeding one of our cats. We have a neighbour who is quite obsessive about cats and comes to tell us if he sees any of ours wondering down the road. Very kind I'm sure but also very annoying. His reports are delivered with a most judgemental frown.

Two of our neighbours fell out over one criticising the other for not feeding their cat properly and the other firing back that it was none of her business. Criticising how people raise their cats is like criticising their parenting - it's never going to end well.
