It Was A Very Good Day August 15, 2018

My day even started off wonderful, I slept until 8:43, that is unheard of for me, I am usually up by 6. I was up at 5 but I went back to sleep!! We had pool exercise at 10:15 and then I drove to Glastonbury to get some pool chemicals. We stopped for lunch at Chick Fil A, well I should say we picked up lunch, the parking lot was full so we just got in the drive-thru line and took our food to go. We parked in the lot of Mattress Firm and when we were done with our sandwiches we went in to find a new mattress for our guest room. It needs to be firm enough for Al. He often goes to sleep in the guest room when our bed is driving him crazy. My friend Cindy bought a Tulo Mattress there and I wanted to see if perhaps the firm one would be good for Al. It is a mattress in a box and sits on a frame. Unfortunately, the platform frame won't be available until October so I will have to use our current frame and box spring. Update I found the frame online and it will be here before the mattress. I thought I would buy two twin beds but Al didn't like the twin, he thought he would roll off of it. So, I got the full. It will be in next Wednesday and we will go and pick it up. I didn't want to pay $100 to have it delivered nor did I want to drive to South Windsor to pick it up myself. I hope that it will be $567 well invested. We then drove home and Al did some chores and I did some computer work. I was going to make meatloaf for dinner but we decided to go out for pizza. Now I am catching up on MyLot, doing a few surveys and getting ready for bed. It was quite a productive day all around.

I hate buying mattresses. They feel really comfortable in the shop but when you get them home you could swear it's a different mattress.

You have to spend a little time on it, just laying down isn't enough. What I did in Florida was get a very firm mattress and then added a topper with gel to make it more comfortable for me with my arthritis. This mattress has 120-day trial so if we don't like it, back it goes. I think we will like it though.

@BelleStarr That's a good idea. We have a topper but it's not a gel one. We've found it really makes a difference so now I've bought a double bed one for the caravan. You need a comfortable bed if you're travelling for days at a time.

We have a firm mattress, no springs, but wooden slats. My husband has problems with metal and electric wiring in the bedroom. It's an annoying matter, but with this wooden slats and the firm mattress it seems he is fine, no more headaches.

Well that is all that counts isn't it that both of you have a good night's sleep.

@BelleStarr I sleep only 4 to 5 hours, but now I sleep better because I know that my husband is no more in pain.

I think I need a new mattress since my back has been bothering me a lot lately. I hate mattress shopping. Hope the new mattress works well for Al I love Chic Fil A and our local one is always crowded so we do the drive thru too.

I think that you need to check out Tulo, they are quite a nice mattress, affordable and comfortable. But if you have a Big Lot nearby, we got our Serta for Florida there for a very good price.

Here it is faster to go inside Chic-fil-A than drive through as the drive thru lines are long

I would have taken my chances inside if I could have found a parking spot but there wasn't one.

I hope so, only time will tell but it certainly will be an improvement over what he is currently using.

That does sound like a very good day, and no cooking at home either! I know that the platform frames look like they would last a lot longer then the traditional bed frames do, but we still have a traditional frame. The platform ones were not really such a wide choice when we bought our new mattress and box spring in the spring of 2017 as they are now. Maybe our next will be, although I hope that this one lasts us a good long time. Are box springs still needed with the platform frames?

No, no box spring, I tried the bed at my friend's house and it cradles your body, a rather good feeling.
