In the next couple of weeks we will be visiting our grandchildren..
Several birthdays have passed while we were away. Now it's time to present some gifts,
I've spent the last couple of days making some doll outfits for the granddaughters who have recently turned 5 and 6.
These outfits fit the 18 inch dolls. Once this little outfit was finished I just sat and admired it. This one will be hard to part with.....it's so darn cute.

I'm sure she will. For Christmas I hope to take a big box of outfits and let them choose their own....hmmm that might not be a good idea.....ill just make each of the girls at least two outfits. Next attempt will be shoes, flipflops, and maybe boots.

My mother used to make us doll clothes. She bought us inexpensive dolls (they did not have much money) and she sewed the smartest outfits for them. They ended up being awesome presents that no girl had.

@marguicha as I child I dreamed (attempted) of making lovely clothes for my dolls....now that I'm mature??? I seem to be more successful.

I bought a 'knock off' so I had a model to use for sewing. I think it has already paid for itself....and I have fun trying each outfit on the cool, taking a picture before I gift the outfit!

I made that over the course of a day. I also accomplished a lot of other things....probably all together about an hour and a half.

The American Girl size doll is a better size to dress than the Barbie dolls.

You can frame this picture and admire it long after the modeled outfit is gone. You did a great job there, Morley. My mom made doll clothes for us when we were kids and even for Barbie dolls, if my memory is serving me correctly.
I've not sewn in years other than sewing on snaps for personal, reusable pads that were taken for young girls and women in Uganda.

My sewing machine and I are seldom parted. Now I'm travelling for three weeks. Hand sewing will be filling that need.

In our family, we take the blue eyes for granted. I have three granddaughters who have my blue eyes.....that's close to the colour my eyes are.
