If you had not noticed this week is doctor appointment week, difference? it was my check up. I go every three months for diabetes and hormone refills, if I need those refilled. I was first, this clinic runs from Noon till 9 pm but the first appointment is actually called back at 12:30 and has the best doctor! I arrived at 12:15 and the waiting room was filling up. I signed in and sat down. On the other side of this long waiting room was a woman and a set of twins, little kids about 3 years old. They were playing as you would expect that age to do and the mother told them to settle down, they did somewhat and the next thing I know she was whooping some azz! I mean those slaps on the butt was loud. Everyone hushed and stared at her. The kids cried but not loud and when one said something she yelled at it and told her one more word and early bedtime. The little kid said " Can we talk this out?" She said "No and there now you have an early bedtime," the child wept softly. But that was not the end, then she began to nag those poor little kids, I mean they had done as told and was still and said nothing and she continued to talk loudly to them in an ugly voice. I said to Tony " Man, what a b*tch, they already did what she told them to do." Tony said in a louder than normal voice " You need to shut up" while looking toward her across the room. A minute later the room went very quiet. I got called back and the nurse was getting my numbers and I asked 'Is another doctor in today to help My doc" She said " Its Thursday, Dr. Randolph is here, and Thursdays are always busy." I shook my head and said " that explains a lot! the crazy woman yelling at those little kids." She said " It has been loud out there." I knew that I seen the local psychiatrist photo on the wall this year but I haven`t seem him in this office, till today. As I checked out I seen Dr. Randolph I thanked him for holding the door open for me. I know this doctor from court, he is the Dr. that determines if someone is sane or not, or if they need to be court ordered to stay a week or a month. I have went to several of these courts when people I know went off their medication and was either harming themselves or a threat to others. The outcome was always good, usually one week in and then they were back on medication and back at home. One more waiting room this week, unless she calls and cancels, until next week. I hope its boring and quiet and I can read. How about you, got any waiting room adventures to share?

You certainly meet some off-the-wall people in waiting rooms. That mother would have made me nuts and I feel sorry for those kids. But, on the flip side, there's those who don't discipline their kids are all. Can only hope for parents who use middle of the road tactics for keeping their kids in line.

Good for Tony. It sounds like mom was having a bad day as many kids would not ask to talk it out at that age.

In fact, I am seeing this phenomenon often in other public places. The child is naughty, and then mother yells and beats tge child, then the child will cry loudly. Mom continues to yell. I don't like parents teaching their children in public like this.

Sometimes I get o thinking if I have dine those things when my kids younger. Maybe yes, but not in public. I always try to be civil when in public especially now that they are growing. Other peiple seeing how you treat your kids will do harm for both the kids and the parents as well.

@andriaperry for sure. When dealing with my kids, I always think if they will understand my point so usually I bring it to their level of thinking. Of how they will understand it.

Some mothers seem to think they have to be loud and impress on others how horrible their life is. I feel really sorry for those little kids.

Nope, my doctor's office rarely has more than one other person waiting for an appointment. I don't know how they do it but they stagger the times in a really good way and I rarely have to wait. I guess all the others are waiting in examination rooms.

Poor kids, she was too rude, this is not the way to deal with very young kids.

What a stressful time for you. Years ago when I worked the the health department, I heard a mom tell her little girl that if she didn't straighten up, "that nurse is gonna give you a shot with that needle right in your eyeball!" We were horrified, but what could we do? The funny thing is that many years later, I did have to get shots in my eyeball due to macular degeneration. I'm so thankful it halted the progress and I haven't needed one for almost two years.
