Curly Wurly's, Lion Bars, and Bourbon Cremes! (Where I order British Brands)

United States

This is going to be a really quick discussion. On occasion, I start to crave foods that I can't get at a regular store around here. Our local stores carry some British brands, but either they are too expensive, or they don't have what I want. I resolved to go online and find a few places I could order from. The picture above came from British Food Depot. Instead of linking you to all of these, I'm just going to say the name of the store and you can google them yourself. So British Food Depot is where I got these, and they do have a rewards program. I can't really tell you how good the program is, because I haven't used it enough to know. I did get $1.16 off of this order from points I had accrued from previous orders. British Food Depot is in Pennsylvania. British Food Shop (.co.uk) is another one I order from, and they are in the UK. I forget where exactly, but they also have a rewards program. The food takes longer to get to me since they are "across the pond". I think I ordered a bunch of cereals and biscuits and ended up waiting a month. Which was fine, because the food was delicious. Then there is English Tea Store. I don't know where they are based, but I don't use them as often. I get candy from them. Okay, so this was a quick discussion (Even if it didn't seem that way) to answer a few people's curiosity as to where I get my food.

We do get some of the well known brands but they only have those names. Unless one imports them from whichever country they are originally from these brands that are available here are nothing to write home about.

British Food Depot has Flake I believe. Not quite sure. I know the store I used to work at had flake as well but it was expensive! Like $5.00 for it.

@Courage7 Well, import costs and all fall back to us. That's one reason why I use the web, prices are more decent.

@arthurchappell The imports of British goods are expensive here. Aunty's Puddings are around $5-$6.00. We don't have a lot of things imported either.

I am not sure how the website I use gets their items. I just assumed they struck a deal with some of the brands.

Is it not too expensive to order from the UK?

I am not ordering from the UK. Well, not always. Like this time, it was from the store in Pennsylvania.

@LadyDuck Which is why I said "Well, not always" I do order from the UK sometimes, but it does get expensive. However, that site has struck up some deal with one of the local chain stores and they offer that store brand's food for less. Not only that, but they've somehow made shipping a little more affordable to the US. I haven't bought from them in ages, but they do carry more than the store in Pennsylvania does.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I noticed you mentioned a .co.uk and that is a British address, this is why I asked.

Nah, this won't last too long. I gave one curly wurly to a family member, split a lion bar with another family member. I've already ate one bourbon cream. I'm sure these will be gone by the middle of next week.

@RubyHawk This is very true. I devoured another Lion Bar today. I'd say "eat" but that would infer that I ate it in more than four bites. Whoops.

I may be placing an order tonight. Depending on.how expensive shipping is. I need some Jammie Dodgers.

British Food Depot has coupon codes year round. They are displayed on the top of the page when you go to the site. Every little bit helps. They went up on the price of the Jammy Dodgers. I think they are near $4.00 now and were about $2.50.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's more than if I go to the store and get them. But I might just order it because in the long run it will be cheaper to order them. I like the Cadbury flake too..

@thislittlepennyearns Just as an FYI? The Lion bar's are delicious. They taste like a rice crispy mixed with white chocolate and peanut butter. I think the store I used to work at had the jammie dodgers at one point, but I was still able to get them cheaper online. Oh, and if you type in "Jammy Cremes" in the search engine on the British Food Depot? They have an off brand of jammy dodgers, or they did when I bought this stuff last week.

I don't think so. We have latino stores and Asian stores. There's even a British food store, or so I've heard, but it's about an hour away.

I've never had a white chocolate Lion Bar! Actually, I haven't had a Lion Bar for yonks. I should rectify that. If you're willing to give me your address I'm more then willing to send you goodies which may not be available on these sites you frequent. Call it a present ... Christmas is coming up ... ;)

Is that chocolate? We don't use to order food online though there is a lot of online store sells food they cook. I know it's much easier to just order then eat. Also, we cook our food daily.
