Becoming better human...

There are many things we never thought of as wrong sometime in history. Gladiators for one. We humans enjoyed it. Can you believe it? A human being killed, and we were appreciating? And we have watched Orcas do what they did in Seaworld. I am not saying the object was bad. We need to know that there are sea creatures that are not our enemies like sharks. We shouldn't be attacking them and killing our well wishers in the sea. If there were enough Orcas, there may not be fear of sharks. That said, the way we capture them, train them, house them, separate them...we have now realized that to be inhuman. Thinking has changed! We have become more sensitive. There is a lot in the nature we have to be kind to. Circuses have gone. Zoos too need to go. And there is a lot among humans we have to be kind to. We will reach there sometime. Hope we all have that one moment for another person and animal where our fun takes backseat and our thinking too. We just care because we are human.

I hate circuses and zoos since I was a tiny little girls. Animals need to be free. Humans should stop hunting for pleasure, it is wrong, it is horrible. What would humans think if a new race of super robots would hunt humans for "pleasure"?

We had a neighbor who had hunted a tiger. His sitting room had that tiger's hide as decoration. The eye was replaced by marble but teeth were genuine. I used to get nightmares ..I hated going to his place. Even if I went there, I would not look at that.

@vandana7 Due to those inconsiderate humans, the tiger population is so small now and at risk of extinction. I would place in jail all those who kill wild animals for pleasure.

The only good thing about zoos they have kept some animals from becoming extinct As people go into the wild to build their homes they cut down the homes of the wild animals..

@Daljinder How true. Caged animal may be feeling so horrible. Eating what is given unable to decide what they want to eat, how much they want to eat. Sometimes food that is stale.

The only way to prevent their habitat disappearing is reducing our population and our need to have larger homes and entertainment centers. Tall ask.

@jstory07 National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries are much better option than zoo to preserve animals and birds from being extinct.

Sorry about that...but I think they do all that for getting food. Food that they do not have to do much for in the wild, and be free with parents spouses kids...siblings friends..and variety of food they feel like eating. I wonder if they get adequate food. No wonder they obey humans.

@sol_cee I am not sure that is the only diet of these animals. There may be sea weeds that they eat, and other crustacians to help them masticate food internally. Then within the sea they can flex their muscles. Imagine living in prison cell for most of your life, no entertainment, no books to read, no computer. The water may not freeze you and you may not have predators (not that orcas have many to fear other than humans), and you can get food, but imagine eating same bread each and every day. They possibly are kept hungry to get them do that show. If they are hungry they will obey humans. I felt so bad thinking about that.

@vandana7 the trainers seemed to be putting something in their mouth like every ten seconds. And boy, they’re sooooo smart to do all those tricks.

I agree, leave those animals alone where they live.

From where did that idea come to capture them. Weird. Good that we managed to send them back...even though it has cost lives of 3 humans and an Orca. Sometimes we don't learn..sigh.

Even if circus is far gone. Still some pet owners teach their pet tricks and post it on social media. It felt like it is the same.

Yes indeed. That is so true. You know what? I heard one thing about circuses. The girls that worked there, if they performed well, they got sold for the night to one of the patrons who attended the show that evening and bid the highest. If they did not perform well, they were denied food and beaten up. Heads you lose, tails I win. No escape! Animals must feel that way too.

Removing animals from their natural habitat and holding them in captivity is inhumane. Some people think these exotic animals are like "pets" just because they are the hand that feeds them. It shouldn't be a shock when one or more of these animals revolt as a way of showing their displeasure of being a prisoner.

They will be there in the sea to protect us. Let them be. They don't harm us, we have no business to keep them captured, even dolphins for that matter. They deserve their freedom.

I felt very bad about the way they captured those little orcas. And the fact that they are made to live in something like a small space sharing it with others, and that they do disagree with fellow orcas, and fight and get lacerated. And that their lifespan is reduced to 1/3rd because we want to be friends with them. Disgusting.

Thank you. :) Felt bad about the orcas, even though three humans were killed. We are not happy with another person in our room, if we don't know what they are fighting for, with other orcas, we don't understand their irritation, increased with small enclosures.
