Just Feeling Sad Today

It is the things that don't make any sense that hurt so much. I don't understand how people can kill their own children.

@akalinus Yes, no matter what happens we must not lose hope. However, we should not be surprised that horrible things are happening. We should expect them. Until God intervenes things will go from bad to worse. If you go to the Bible to 2 Timothy chapter 3 verses 1 and 13, you will see that last days would be difficult and that evil men would go from bad to worse. The good news is that it is the "last days" and things are about to come to a climax. So, we can rejoice in the hope of better things soon.

I have read that the child was a boy. If true, it would have been his first son. How gruesome is that?

Yes, there were two little girls aged three and four, I believe. One was supposed to start kindergarten.

I think you had fires, right. I know stuff happens there, I read news reports sometimes.

It is terrible. A woman here took her small child out into the ocean and left her there. They recovered her body after someone called the cops when they saw her coming back without the child.
