Explaining death to a 4 year old child

How will you explain the concept of death to a 4 year old child. After watching a news on television he asked me what is death. I did not know what to say so that I don't hamper his feelings of security.
When I told him that God takes away some people, his first question was What if I die or you die? Moreover, I could see big tears on his eyes. I was stunned and did not know what to say.
Explaining birtg is easy but when it comes to topics like death, all parents face a tough time.Can anyone help me with this?

Fortunately, my daughter has never asked such a question. As she grew older, she understood.

It's a long sleep where no one can wake us up but God can and when He wakes us up we will be very happy and be in a beautiful place.
