This icy, rocky, no shore line island that has an active volcano, is the most remote island in the world. It is located in the South Atlantic Ocean and is uninhabited and Sub Antarctic. It was discovered in the 1700s and is a dependency of Norway. It is outside the normal shipping ranges and can only be accessed by helicopter. For such a long time, it didn't have any kind of shore line. Then the active volcano did erupt and created with's it's lava flow, a low lying area. When scientists went to the island, they were shocked to discover a mysterious boat in that low lying area, but they could not ever find people. Then, sometime later, they returned to the island and the boat was gone. It is a mystery about the boat. Watch the video, it is interesting.
Isolated in the Southern Ocean surrounded by unrelenting storms and inhospitable temperatures sits Bouvet Island. Comprised from gigantic glaciers which bord...

Seems like quite a few scientists mean that the shore is the result of an earth slide, not a volcano. It has created an aera which is now home to lots of penguins and seals. The nearest island, Gough island, is about 1700 km away. I think I would like to go there as a part of a scientific reasearch group. It is a nature reservation and a part of the treaty to preserve arctic marine species. Going there with a research group is probably the only option, but also a very interesting option. And I'm sure they could use a physicist. I could record sounds :-)

@LeaPea2417 Never heard of Gough island before I read more about Bouvet island. Lots of small, remote island spread around the oceans I assume. If I ever get rich enough (or find the right research group), I'll travel around the world to visit some of them. Pick ones that are different from each other.

That would be interesting to go there with a research group. Also, Gough Island you mention above, I need to look that one up. I have not heard of it.

Yes, very interesting. If it were not so far off and cold, it would be neat to visit it.
