Ever since I saw the thriller “Sleeping With the Enemy” with Julia Roberts I have really enjoyed the song “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison. I am a blue-eyed girl and there are enough songs about girls with blue eyes. My mom was a brown-eyed girl and she always said there were too few songs written about girls with brown eyes in both English and Latvian so I think she would have also loved this song. “Brown Eyed Girl” is a song written by Van Morrison. It became known as his signature song and still, today remains a staple on classic rock radio. With this, I could not resist adding a poem I wrote back in 2015 all about brown eyes. Entirely my version. Brown Eyes The day was clear as a bell the sky the bluest blue fields full of daisies the smell of the new-mown grass was intoxicating indeed he was entranced by the beauty of it all a stroll down a country lane filled his heart with joy he didn’t notice her at first but as he sat resting near a field where red poppies bobbed their heads in the wind he heard a low sound a most delicate movement and then liquid brown eyes looked down into his her brown skin shimmered in the heat of the summer sun he breathlessly watched her as she stood munching on some grass then ever so quietly she let out a soft moo by far she was the loveliest cow he had ever seen.
