Car Troubles

Happy Sunday Everyone! It's gray and drizzling here on this Sunday morning. It fits my mood because I'm feeling depressed that my car needs to go in to be fixed and it sounds like something that will be costly. My daughter was driving on the highway yesterday and the car started losing acceleration. It was shaking a bit and felt like it was going to stall. As you know, my daughter drives 2 hours each way to work and this week she has to work 4 days. Needless to say without a second car there's going to be a lot of balls in the air until we figure out what to do. She's going to drop the car off tonight with a note explaining what's happening and that she hopes they can get to it tomorrow. If not, then we have to figure out how she'll get to work this week and it looks like a rental car might be the answer. Before I put the cart before the horse I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be able to fit the repair in tomorrow and we'll get the car back for her to work the next 4 days. Once that get's addressed then we'll worry about the bill. It's always something isn't it.

@Marilynda1225 I imagine that having only one car is a serious problem.

We try to keep 2 running vehicles for that reason. The kids have even had to borrow before, but that meant we still had one while theirs got fixed. It does not raise your insurance that much. And a few days with a rental would cover the difference in insurance. We found that out when hubbies truck got hit. Insurance covered that bill but when seen the amount.

Oh yuk..it sounds like it could be the alternator, and you are right that is expensive. Is public transportation out?

Oh gosh sorry to hear this. Yes that is why I do no longer have a car. I ride the train or bus. But not everyone can do that. We are lucky here with it. I hope the bill wont be too much and that they can indeed fix it.

I'm just hoping they can fix it quickly. We don't have access to public transportation nearby so we depend on our car for everything

@Marilynda1225 Yes that is a pity about no nearby transportation. You are right tho having a second car might help.

Ugh - I hate car issues - and taking it in to get fixed is a hassle on our schedules and yes, it can be costly. I keep thinking I need to learn how to take public transportation - oh we rely on our cars so heavily!!

I'm so sorry for the car issue. It was lucky that she was able to make it home, breaking down anywhere, let alone on a highway, can be very dangerous. I look forward to reading a post on Tuesday that the shop was able to complete the repairs and that all is well again. Until then Ill keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm hoping it can get fixed quickly as this is going to be a huge hassle if it cant. Sitting here on a Sunday just waiting for the shop to open tomorrow is nerve wracking. I hate not knowing.what I'm facing. Of course life could be worse and I'm grateful it's just a big inconvenience

Sometimes mechanics will allow use of a loaner car? I hope it's nothing much
