Do You Take Off Your Shoes At The Door?

I was reading an article about ways to reduce dangerous toxins from the home and it listed this one. I hadn't thought of it this way before. Removing your shoes at the door not only helps to keep the house cleaner but, it also can keep allergens, pesticides, bacteria, parasites and who knows how many other questionable materials out of your home. Do you follow this habit in your home?

We have the wooden floor, so we will take off shoes before we enter the house. We will put on slippers instead. Or you can walk barefoot. It is up to you.

Yes absolutely do. And I hate it when anyone else does not want to in my place.

Yes, I take off my shoes before entering and wear slippers inside. I ask my visitors to take off their shoes and have slippers for them to wear.

@sharon6345 Most of my friends have the habit of taking off their shoes when they are entering a house. The only place where I won't take my shoes off is when the house is dirty.

I take my shoes off as soon as I come inside, but I am the only one that does it. There is no carpet in my house all the floors are wood. If I had carpet on the floors I would make everyone pull their shoes off on the porch. Still, if anyone tracks anything inside I hand them the broom, dustpan and mop.

This has been a tradition. You'll be considered rude if you don't take off your shoes before entering the house. We are always bare foot at home. We mop and disinfect the floor in the morning and at night.

I grew up with this habit. It was not only a Japanese custom in our house, but yes, we knew very well that stuff under the shoes would get all over the house if we didn't take off our shoes. On carpet - that'd be pretty gross!

That is the practice here in India but I am excused as I find it difficult to do that

I take them off as soon as I walk in the door. It was always a habit with me.
