I cooked samgyetang. It's a Korean comfort food and it's also my mother-in-laws favorite viand. My daughter likes it,too. It is also very easy to prepare. What did you have for lunch?

@Iam_jauntyjen Actually, I just bought it from Chowking, a fastfood restaurant here. My mother loves the taste of it...

Is samgyetang similar to a ginseng chicken soup? It sounds very good. I have spicy marinated beef with salad for lunch.

Is that your samgyetang in the picture? If it is. it looks like "sinigang" with chickens as its meat. Is it?

i'm curious too if samgyetang is similar to sinampalukang manok (chicken in tamarind broth) or tinolang manok (chicken in ginger broth)

@SIMPLYD @hereandthere uhmmn.i have never tried cooking sinampalukang manok.I am actually craving for it. Samgyetang is as close as you can get to our own sinampalukang manok. Samgyetang is quite different because it is stuffed with sticky rice and lots of onion with korean ginseng and dates. In some restaurant they add nuts. Actually ,it's kind of bland compared to our sinampalukang manok.

Your lunch sounds delicious. I'm at home alone, and I don't want to cook. So I ate two apples and some grapes. I think it will help me lose weight.

I used to do that when I used to be alone. I would go to the grocery to buy fruits and eat them whenever I am home alone.

@Iam_jauntyjen yes i am a nurse. it seems we do not back-read our discussions, or we know little about each other. i am a nurse and i am a clinical instructor. i am in the academe since 2004, and i teach students regarding their skills in the area. it is the first duty day and we were in school to hone the students' skills, so when we go to the hospital, they should have mastered their skills already.

Wash the chicken thoroughly then rub salt inside and outside parts. Put a lot of garlic inside. You may also add glutinous rice, this is optional.Add onion leeks and ginseng.Boil for an hour. Piece of cake ,isn't it?
