No Segregation of Garbage, No Collection Policy

The local authority had strictly imposed this policy because this garbage thing has been long a problem and was always a problem. It may not be difficult to segregate our garbage if we are responsible enough to practice it and would really practice it. However, collection must be regular and not periodic especially those biodegradable ones since, it is not possible to have a compost pit for everyone because not all of us have backyards. The periodic collection created discussions on local social media pages that tackle issues about government and so far received many complaints. The city leaders then turn-over the implementation and collection to the smallest level of local government unit so that this policy must be oversee and implemented. They are also imposing a steeper penalty to those who would commit violation on the law. Business establishments are required to have bins in their area provided for the segregation before given the renewal of their business permit. How’s the garbage collection in your area? Isn’t it a problem?

@Shavkat I think, periodic collection is applicable only to residential places because there's not much generation of garbage. It's unlikely to commercial places because business establishments have enough of garbage and plenty especially to food service industry.

I believe that the segregation is not the problem. There should be a regular collection everyday so that those perishable wastes would not stink. Though households waste is minimal, it's incomparable to business establishments especially to food service industry where volumes of wastes are generated everyday.

this policy nice but kind of hard to implement. The garbage collection in our place is really bad. People don't throw it on the proper place since it is a bit far and you can't throw at specific times . You really have to wait for the collectors to come.. so people just throw it a few meters from their houses It stinks so bad sometimes

This is also our problem before. They will throw to a specific area and just leave it for the garbage collector to collect but not now because of this policy. If someone got caught, he will be penalized. Maybe in the years to come, all people will learn to follow fully. It is starting to work now.We can't throw it in a specific area now, good thing that in our community, the garbage truck would standby on an area and there's this person who will inform the households. That's the time we will discharge our garbage. It's not everyday though and have only a specific days for week. But it is still OK rather than bringing your trash to the material recovery facility.

In my opinion it is a problem. The garbage men never segregate them.

@ZedSmart I did do segregate them at home at some point in my life but now I don't do it anymore because even when I did segregate them the garbage men never cared about it and they put everything in the same place and dump them to the garbage hole.

They're no longer making it part of their job. That is why, everybody is encourage to segregate garbage in their home. It would be easier for them to collect and when disposing to the facility.
