Can't Catch a Break

Happy Monday Everyone! My car troubles continue. As I wrote in my other post, my car lost acceleration while driving so we dropped it off at the mechanic last night with the hopes he'd be able to look at it today. Not having an appointment is always a 50/50 chance but as luck would have it, he can't look at it today. This now creates a whole new dilemma because my daughter needs a car to get to work tomorrow as they're having a meeting she can't miss. The only rental place in our area doesn't have a car other than SUVs which are expensive. All we're looking for is a small car just to get her to work tomorrow and possibly the day after. The rental guy was nice and said he would call around to see if another place had a smaller car but so far we haven't heard from him. Otherwise, we'll be forced to take the SUV and pay the higher price. This on top of what the our car will cost to fix is going to be a big hit on the old wallet. If all this would work out smoothly I could deal with the hiccup in our life but it just seems as if we can't pull anything together to solve this problem. I know somehow it's all going to work out....just getting it to work out is a pain.

Are there no taxis, ubers, or lyft services no that would be cheaper than renting that SUV? Gosh even a friend no?

@Marilynda1225 I so wish there were some solution..this is a terrible hardship. Even would the repair guy have an extra car he could lend? There is a service guy here that used to do that for my Mother RIP

I hoped that you could have back the car today. Now let's hope that the rental place can get a small car for you.

@Marilynda1225 They were really kind offering a SUV at a lower price. I am also scared being on the highway where there are those big semi-trucks.

Well the good news is the rental place will give us the SUV for the price of the smaller car. I'm happier knowing my daughter is driving something bigger since she travels on the highway with semi-trucks, etc.

Oh I was really hoping for much better news, as I know that you were also. Somehow, someway, I hope that things work out in the immediate future to solve tomorrow's transportation issue.

The transportation has been resolved. Rental company will give us the SUV for the price of the smaller car.. That's good news and I'm happier knowing my daughter is driving something bigger. As you know her commute is 2 hours and it's all highway with semi-trucks,etc. Hopefully the car will be done tomorrow.

@Marilynda1225 That is a positive step in the right direction! Now, let's hope that she can find gas at a reasonable price or maybe the vehicle will be like our new SUV, and just sip the gas.

It's not likely that the repair will be cheap but it is what it is.

It sounds like one of those Murphy's Law kind of deals. Maybe she should look into a commuter rail or ride sharing. If she is going into the city there must be lots of ways to get there.

WE do have "bad things" happening in our lives once in a while. Very annoying.
