Does anyone here knows about Rondalla?

,,,Ive been a Rondalla member for almost 4 years now... I played the part of Bandurria and sometimes Ovtavina... But we have a problem in recruiting new members because they dont know about it.. we are so sad to know that, only few knows aboit it.. For.we only have few members left...

Yes it use to be popular in the Philippines, there were still some rondallas during the 60s when I was a kid sad they seem to have disappeared. Some of my grand aunts and uncles could play those musical instruments.

@Nickzter1331 I said " seem to have disappeared " my friend what I meant was I don't see them on T.V.anymore, don't know how old you are but a program " Hamon sa Kampeon" use to have rondalla contestants. Schools also have rondalla groups in high school much like having the drum and bugle. I guess people now prefer singing contest and singing modern foreign songs. It's a big loss to our culture especially our Spanish heritage.

@louievill ,,,oh sorry for that.. hehe.. Really... but still.im glad that there are highschool rondallas,, There is also Rondalla Festival nowadays... Ive attended it twice already and im happy to see that there are still rondalla groups..

,,,it did not.disappear totally my friend.. Ive known some who.are still actively playing.. like the Celso Espejo Rondalla which become one of the pioneers of Rondalla.in the Philippines... But sad to say its not that popular...

,,Its a 14 stringed instruments in The Philippines,,, but in Spain it is 13 stringed instrument if im.not.mistaken...

,,,yeah.. drum and lyre is more popular... but I hope there will come a time that Rondalla will become more popular...

What is Rondalla? What are the eligibility required to get recruited in it?

,,,a Rondalla is a group composed of bandurria, octavina, guitar, and bajo.de arco intrumentalists.. You can join if you are wiling to learn any of the instruments i mentioned... you can research it for more details.. :) This is well known in the Philippines...
