Does Paracetamol damage your kidneys?

I have heard people say that some medicines can cause damage to our kidneys. During my recent days of fever I was given paracetamol. It helped me control the fever but I found my stomach distended and my kidneys slightly painful. Since then I am asking myself if paracetamol affects our kidneys. Does anyone here in myLot have a similar experience?

No it won't damage your kidneys as they are not maintenance medication that you have to take daily. I know hypertension medication or and strong medication that is taken every single day as maintenance could. That's why in the case of my brother he has a regular checkup of his kidney because he's taking hypertension meds. Paracetamol is mild. It can be flush out of your system without harming your kidney.

Paracetamol is not advisable to eat more often. This tablet is good to kill rats so you can understand the effect. However, I do not think taking on with much interval for fever will be dangerous. Drink plenty of water which can clear the system if there any thing in it.

My opinion is that it won't affect your kidneys. You should read its paper and see which are the possible side effects and if any of those are about affecting kidneys.

I'm not sure with this as paracetamol is over-the-counter medicine. Certain antibiotics might. You better consult your doctor.

If taken too much, all medicines will eventually cause you harm. Especially if you are a user of pain relievers. they are the worst for your body. I have known a lot of people who had kidney problems because they cannot take pain and in doing so they are more in trouble. Since paracetamols are taken only when you have fever, i think they will cause less troubles for your organs.

Antibiotics do that but I do not think Paracetamol does that. If you take too much of that it could.

Most of the medicines can affect or damage our kidneys. That is why when there are acidic medicines, another medicine that can counter the acidity is being given. We just have to drink lots of water when we take them.

Hopefully taking paracetamol for a few days won't do any damage but I guess everyone is different. I hope you recover soon.

Pain relievers like mefenamic acid are bad for the kidneys. But Paracetamol? I don't think so. But if you are unsure, it's better to consult with your doctor.

I think that most medicines be it paracetamol or antibiotics does affect our liver and kidneys. That is because the main function of thes organs is to filter anything that goes inside our bodies. Liver does not distinguish paracetamol as safe so they fo filter and try to detoxify it which when taken in regularly can strain the liver to function well. The same case or effect with kidneys.

I think it won't damage your kidneys unless you eat it too much or you eat it every day. Anyway, you had better go to the doctor and ask his advice.

I don't think that we should be giving advice on medicine here. Best to consult your pharmacist or doctor.

I think paracetamol are mild. But every medicines have it's side effects that is why we need doctor's prescription in taking medications. Anything too much is not good for the body
