Ok thanks" this is the phrase that like a bullet kills an interesting discussion. For both the discusser and the responder, it's such a waste of time and effort on the following circumstances. 1. earnings, 2. learning, 3. possible friendship and 4. self-expression. How else can you answer that question? It will just be "you're welcome." Do you agree or disagree?

I agree! When someone says that or something similar, I take it as a conversation stopper. Then, I find someone that wants to continue the conversation at least a little bit more.

@Mavic123456 I don't think they are tying to be rude, they just don't have much to say.

@1hopefulman ahh yeah maybe, I don't like to judge them too. but who knows why can't they say that much if that's their discussion after all.

@Mavic123456 That is good.. I have still not done that. It is sad when they prematurely kill a good discussion.

I agree with what you mentioned, it does turn off the discussion. Waiting for years to be able to revive it.

I have to agree it feels disappointing to not have the conversation continued and cut off before it actually started.

It is a slap for me. Like you wanted to discuss more or simply to interact about a discussion.

These types of comments do not allow a discussion to continue. I guess it really depends on the discussion but I hate these discussion killer comments.

sometimes, I am trying to make a good interaction in a discussion by posing a question (to encourage the member to answer back) but the answer is Thank you. instead.

@BelleStarr i wonder if I will earn more by doing that I mean starting a discussion. because I think that's easier to do, than responding back and forth?

@Mavic123456 Well, the idea here is to engage in conversation and (for me, at least) to learn things.

You are right, we must keep the conversation going. But sometimes just an act of courtesy when there's nothing more to be said, I guess.

It is always a choice ... we always have a choice if you think nothing more to add then that's it, no need to reply back or just say thanks will do.

@yoalldudes me, sometimes I worry that I talk too much (but I know this is interaction site). but I always respect those who wishes to end... I don't mind. after two or three interaction. but for the first time response? hmmm.. that's quite annoying

yes, if you can really response and comment back why not, unless you don't have anything to add on.

If we have both responded and commented back and forth a couple times I don't find thanks, have a good day, thumbs up, or "like" offensive to end one's discussion. Maybe they are done commenting on the topic and wish to visit other posts. Now, if their initial and only response contains one of these aforementioned phrases that can be a little disappointing. Usually if that happens too often, I just move on. What's great about My Lot is there is an assortment of post to choose from so to each his/her own...
