stinky breath breakfast

The other half brought home two loaves of garlic sourdough bread from work. I love this bread when it's been toasted and buttered. It's a glorious thing in the morning, even without cheese or eggs. One drawback is that I have garlic breath for a while, even after brushing my teeth, but it's still worth it. Did you have a less aromatic breakfast today?

No matter how long you brush your teeth the garlic breath remains. It is the sulfuric compound of the garlic that causes the bad smells, not to mention that it is passed into the blood during the digestive process.

It certainly lingers. It doesn't really bother me, but it definitely has a lot of garlic cloves baked in.

@spiderdust If you smell your skin, if you sweat you will feel the garlic smell. I wonder if this could keep the mosquitoes away. I have to try.

@LadyDuck That sounds like a good reason to eat more garlic.

So far I've only had some banana and a bit of granny smith apple. I think I will go for something more filling soon. When I have garlic breath (I love garlic), I gobble up an Altoid or two after brushing my teeth.

@spiderdust They are indeed. Actually, the older kids I work with wind up gobbling them up as well. It's a "bonding" thing.

@TheHorse Years ago when I worked at Trader Joe's, we sold some sort of caffeinated mints in a tin. I switched to those for a while, but I still prefer the original mint Altoids.

They are curiously strong mints.

I wouldn't touch garlic if you paid me, I think the smell is awful.

I love onion bagels, so that wouldn't have been much better! Especially if I have lox too!

I rarely, if ever, eat breakfast. But garlic is a staple in our house. Luckily we both love the smell of garlic, so when it is on our breath it is not a problem. That sounds like some serious good bread.

Never had that bread, but I am sure it does not do good for a fresh smelling breath.

I love toasted bread, with coffee in the morning! Garlic is my favorite flavor of all:) I had toasted whole-grain bread with honey today.

I had a chocolate chip muffin yesterday. Today I had pop tarts and something else.

Garlic bread was always a favorite of mine. Use to really enjoy dunking it in my spaghetti sauce. Don't indulge to much anymore due to acid-reflux disease But definitely worth the mouthwash later on to get rid of that garlic breath

Nothing spectacular or too smelly. Just some kidney beans and pork!

I had idli sambhar, a South Indian breakfast and I love it and it's aroma. I love toasted garlic bread and don't mind the garlic breath.

I've never had that one... it's steamed rice cakes with vegetables and spices, right?

@spiderdust Yes. It steamed fermented rice and pulse batter. We get some different varieties of batter too. Sambhar is pulses cooked with lots of veggies and special sambhar powder.
