John McCain has passed away

Senator John McCain has died at the age of 81 from brain cancer. He was a war hero in Vietnam, a Senator, and a two-time Republican Presidential candidate. He announced that he had a form of glioblastoma last year and has been battling the aggressive form of brain cancer ever since. It was announced just yesterday or two days ago that he was stopping medical treatment for the condition which made it clear that the end was very near. McCain and Trump have had a very bad relationship. Trump stated that he didn't think that McCain was a war hero because he "likes men who weren't captured". McCain, in turn, criticized Trump several times, most recently after the President's Russian summit in Helsinki, and he also torpedoed his last attempt to repeal Obamacare with his infamous "thumbs down" midnight vote. McCain made it publicly known that he did not want Trump to attend his funeral and Trump did not make any public statement when the news of the Senator's discontinuation of medical treatment was announced. John McCain was a true American hero who served the country for 60 years. He will be missed.
Whenever America was in a fight during his long lifetime, John McCain was in the thick of it.

I heard this news a few minutes ago. Look, I feel for his family like anyone else. And I do believe he was a war hero. Why wouldn't anyone think so. Anyway, him being a republican, I am not. So I never agreed with his politics. As for trump, well, he is a moron and a stupid man. That all aside, McCain was one of the last old time republicans. The new ones are all nuts.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I was proud when McCain did the "thumbs down" on the Obamacare repeal though. That was awesome.

No man in America is hard as that man. This really makes my heart sad and I so did things like root for Obama, but he stayed consistent. My heroes need to stop dying off. Not sure if the world looks good with no John McCain

I agree with you. I didn't always agree with him but he was a good man, an American hero, and a good foil for Trump.

I suspect he stopped treatment a bit before they announced it. He passed like a day after they told the world that. That is super fast.

I just read the story this morning that they were stopping treatment. This was the first guy I voted for in a presidential election.

He is such a true patriot. I woke up this morning to see my friends on Facebook updating about his untimely demise. Someone mentioned that he stopped taking his cancer treatment. Whether that is true or not - I might not know. All in all, America has lost a great hero. I hope governments invest more in medical research to find a cure that is easy to administer for this dreaded illness.

He was on the USS Forrestal when the fire happened (the ship had the nickname the “Forest Fire”), too. McCain opted to stay a captive rather than leave while other subordinate soldiers were still held, so as to not give the enemy a propaganda victory. That is a man who took his oath as an officer seriously. Wonder what those who criticized McCain would’ve done.... Fair winds and following seas, Captain McCain.

But he was a lousy senator. Never liked his politics, but he WAS a true American hero, and I vehemently disagreed with Trump's statement on this issue.
