A wonderful film!

Have you seen the movie, "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society"? It is so good! It's based on a true historical event during WW2 about Guernsey Island which was occupied by the Germans. The people invented a literary society as a cover for breaking curfew. In 1946, a writer goes to the island to investigate the story. The characters are fictional, but it's so heart warming. We saw it on Netflix, but you can probably find it other places or you can read the book by the same title.

Yes and I absolutely loved it Vicki! The leading lady was also a star in the movie Baby Driver. I love her she really is lovely.

She was also Lady Rose in Downton Abbey. I want to read the book now.

@1creekgirl Oh was she? I did not see the whole series of that..wow she is magnificent tho. Thanks Vicki oh yeah the book would be awesome. Poor Mama RIP loved that show so much.

@1creekgirl We toured Colditz in Germany and that has a fascinating history too. It was supposed to be impossible to escape from but that didn't stop them trying.

I will look for the book. I am interested by the Channel Islands, and I spent some holidays in Guernsey.

My Aunt just recommended this book to me and then I saw the movie was on Netflix. Now I don't know if I should read the book first or see the movie first. Glad you enjoyed it so now I'm looking forward to seeing it

Read the novel! I don't know about the film but my experience is that books are usually better than films. Of course, there are exceptions.

@MALUSE I'll go with the book first. I agree that the book is usually better than the movie but it's nice to hear this movie is good so I'll look forward to seeing it in the future
