Wrote four new limericks today

I didn't think that was going to happen today but I ended up writing four new limericks just now. I have many more limericks to write until I can call my very first limerick book that I am working on ready to be proofread and edited for publication. You'd think limericks would be much easier to write than regular poetry, especially because they are only 5 lines long and are silly or funny in nature. But that's not the case. Not with me anyway. Maybe because I am more used to writing emotional, heartfelt poetry...

Limericks are one of the harder styles for my students because of the way they are constructed and how the rhyming scheme works.

I agree. Some write five lines that sort of fit the pattern but they can be way off the mark sometimes.

@JudyEv I am not sure if all of mine are 100% on the mark syllable count-wise but I will deal with that when I edit. As long as the flow/rhythm sounds good to me I go with it.

@lovebuglena I'm the same with limericks. If the rhythm is right that's all I'm after.

How cool is that? Writing your own book of limericks. Good for you.

My friend just published his 3rd limerick book (with my help). So, I thought why not me...? I am a poet, so I should be able to write limericks... So far I'm doing good it seems.
