Best Day Ever!

My childhood friend and his wife flew down from Michigan to Florida to set sail on a week-long cruise out of Tampa. They flew into Orlando late Friday night, and the cruise didn't sail until Sunday afternoon, so that gave them a free day to spend with their 4-year old daughter at Disney World in Orlando. Coincidentally, I have a work conference in Orlando this week, starting on Sunday, so I drove down a day early to spend the the day with them at Disney. Since I'm an annual pass holder, and have been to the Magic Kingdom hundreds of times, I figured I could help them get the most out of their day. This was my first time meeting their daughter. She immediately took a liking to me, and so I told her parents that I would watch her the whole day and make sure she had a great time for her first visit to Disney. Although it was hot and humid out, and the theme park was busy, she had a great time, and at the end of the day when we were getting settled down for the night in the hotel room, she ran up and gave me a great big hug and whispered in my ear, "Thank you Uncle Jeff, this was the best day ever!" That just made my heart melt. I was so happy that she had such a great time, and it was fun for me because I got to see the magic of Disney through the eyes of a 4-year old. BEST. DAY. EVER!

How cool is that? I can believe that you both had a ball and yes, it's a bonus to take a small child somewhere and relive the magic of such places.

We definitely had a ball, and I wish they were here for more than just the one day, because I could have taken her around to see all the other theme parks in Disney World besides the Magic Kingdom (Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach).

@JudyEv I will see them again next weekend when they get back from their cruise, and then again in October and January. The January visit will be fun, because they have a German exchange student who will be staying with them, and they want me to take her to Disney World for her first visit.

I'm so happy you made her day so extra special. Our grandkids have been there twice and to Disneyland and told us it was the most magical place on earth. It must have been a dream come true for her, too.

@DianneN Most adults have a love/hate relationship with Disney. You wouldn't believe how many people react negatively when I tell them how much I love Disney. I guess it's just not for everyone. My girlfriend is one of those people who don't like Disney. Such a shame, but I can't force her to like it.

Disney has 2 theme park locations in the United States. Disneyland is located in California on the west coast of the United States, and is the smallest and oldest of all the Disney theme parks. The other one is Disney World, which is located in Florida on the east coast of the United States. I live near Disney World. It's the largest of all the Disney theme parks in the world, and is so big it is equivalent to a city of 150,000 people. You would definitely enjoy a visit to Disney World, and it is so big you would need an entire week just to visit everything. If you ever want to visit, I would be happy to be your personal tour guide.

@Nevena83 There are a total of six Disney locations throughout the world. The one by where I live (Disney World), is the largest of all of them. There are actually six theme parks inside the Disney World resort area: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach. There is also a very large shopping district called Disney Springs, as well as 25 hotels inside of Disney World. It's a very big place! I would love to take you there someday! It would definitely help to bring joy back to your heart!

I pretty much spoiled her the entire day, because how do you say no to a cute little kid like that? We went into one of the souvenir stores, and I told her she could pick out one thing and I would buy it for her. She picked out four things. I tried to tell her to put back three of the items, and she just looked at me with sad little puppy dog eyes and said "Pweeeease Uncle Jeff!" She got her four items....

@moffittjc I am sure we would have a lot of fun. I liked to have the pass, because sometimes we went there very early in the morning and only go to those attraction that we like more. The advantage to have an annual pass, is the fact that you can go inside for one hour only if you like and come back the day after.

@LadyDuck I agree. The pass gives you much flexibility to come and go as you please. For example, if you go early in the morning, and then it gets too hot, you can leave and go back to your hotel room to rest or get something to eat. Then, later in the afternoon, when it cools off some, you can go back to the theme park and enjoy the rides.

By saying you are worse than a kid, do you mean you cry, throw temper tantrums, drop your ice cream on the ground, ask 10 million questions, and run off from your parents every time they turn their back on you? haha Just kidding, I understood what you were saying! I can just imagine all the fun you had at Disney when you visited Florida! I wish I could go to Disney World with you one time. I think we would have lots of fun!

@sol_cee You can fit eight Universal Studios Japan inside the Walt Disney World theme park, so if you thought Universal Studios was big, wait until you get to Disney World! And that's just the theme park! If you count the entire Walt Disney World resort property, you could fit 225 Universal Studios Japan inside!

When I have experiences like I did with that little girl and her family, it makes me forget about being adult. I turn into a little kid again for a day and totally forget about all of my adult world problems. I wish adulthood could be as innocent as the life of a child.
