Rainy End To This Month

United States
August 31, 2018 11:02am CST
Happy Friday Everyone! It's a rainy day here in my little corner of the myLot world. The temperatures dropped which makes it much easier to deal with except it's pouring rain. I managed to get the dogs out between bouts of rain so at least I didn't have wet, smelly dogs in the house. We're approaching the end of summer with Labor Day being a holiday weekend. Of course it's the unofficial end to summer because it's officially not over until Sept. One disappointment I had this summer was I never got to the beach. I love the beach and had been hoping for some sort of vacation or even a long weekend. Oh well....that's life. I've read some posts where fellow myLotters are already thinking of decorating for the Fall, Halloween and some have already started their Christmas shopping. I've had all that in the back of my mind but I'm not ready to shop for Christmas quite yet. As for Fall decorating I do have a pretty wreath for my front door and I usually get some mums for the front porch. I'll wait until mid September to drag out the decorations for Halloween and think about what I'll give out to the kids when they trick or treat around the neighborhood. As for today, it's time to enjoy this last day of August even if it's raining. Are you going to enjoy this holiday weekend? any special plans?

Oh, I feel badly that you didn't get to the beach this summer. It's my favorite place to be. We even go to restaurants that are on the water. Perhaps you can visit Florida this winter and enjoy the beaches there. They are so beautiful!!! So sorry about the rain. We may have showers, but it won't cause a problem. Several of our friends are having cookouts, but we'll all be eating indoors or in their screened in porches. Happy Labor Day!

@Marilynda1225 I hope you visit. It is a tropical paradise without the high heat and humidity in the winter.

No real special plans. Just a quiet weekend with the kids and hubby. As next week will be back to the normal routine. Girls at school, little guy at daycare, while hubby and I are at work.

You must be getting the cool front which came across our region a couple of evenings ago. Our coolness only lasted for yesterday. Today the heat is creeping back in and over the weekend the humidity will also. This afternoon I intend on digging out our autumn door decoration. I always put it up on this weekend, just so that the students and school board workers returning to the classrooms don't feel too badly. I will add to it as the weeks roll past, some colourful gourds, pumpkins, Indian corn, you know the colourful stuff that we love about autumn.

@Marilynda1225 Thanks, I'm looking forward to it. We are driving an hour to our son's house and we'll dress there before we leave for the wedding. I started getting our things ready to pack into the SUV tomorrow. Do you think that I can find my husband's good dress shirt and tie? Nope, I searched everywhere! I found a close second, and I'm hoping that he doesn't notice its not his very best. I shined up our dress shoes and have our passports and US currency all ready to pack into the truck tomorrow.

@Juliaacv hope your hubby doesn't notice the tie (I'm sure he'll look handsome even if it's not his best tie) Sounds like you have things under control and I'm sure you'll look beautiful too

I won't be putting my decorations out until next week at the earliest. Our school has already started so teachers and students are still in summer mode here. Enjoy your weekend and the wedding

We were lucky when we were in Delaware. It drizzled a couple of times, but most of the time it was sunny and pretty. It is good to be back here, catching up with everyone and finding out what they have been up to. Sorry you never made it to the beach, but you'll be back in Florida in a few months!

@DianneN - Sorry, I was confused after being off the site for a couple of weeks! We need rain here in So Cal, too, but we won't get any until at least December.

@Marilynda1225 It can be, but the guy we buy from is going to bring it to us instead. We headed over with the tractor this afternoon and had to turn it around. Gotta find why the tractor lost power. We have 2 tractors thankfully, but only the one will lift them high enough to get them on the trailor

@Marilynda1225 He has had a few tests now and they can't find anything wrong with his heart apart from a slightly leaking valve. But very occasionally he gets terrific chest pain. He is going back to the cardiologist next Thursday to talk with him again. It's nice in a way that they can't find anything but something must be causing the pain.

I could probably start earlier than I do if I had some good gift ideas in mind. Rain at night would be the best time for it to rain so we have sun all during the day
