The weather seems to know that August is over. This first day of September is gloomy, cold and rainy. It has rained all the night long and surely today we are not going to see the sun. We are not a tropical country, we know that September brings cooler days. The smell of Autumn already fills the air. We will surely have some more beautiful days to enjoy the outdoors, but the hot days of Summer, at least here, are over. September is the first month of Autumn. The official flower is the forget-me-not and the birthstone the sapphire. There are two important celebrations in September: the 3rd of September is Labor day in Canada, United States the 4th Friday of the month is Native American day. Do you have special plans for this first month of Autumn?

The weather is beautiful here today. I have just tried to cut the grass but the lawn mower started to smoke. It has done me very well around 20 years so I guess I have had good use of it over the years!

It's really bad here today, but I like not to sweat. My lawn mower has the same age, I changed the oil last week and mowed. Let's cross my fingers.

Those are good reasons to celebrate, as well as the fact summer is almost over. Soon we will see the beautiful fall foliage in all its brilliant color. Cooler days are definitely on the way. This month the only thing I'm looking forward to is having my book published.

It is less warm, especially during the morning, but we have still warm afternoons in my place. We have the "Heritage Days" the third weekend of September, they are interesting because many monuments closed the rest of the year are opened to visitors, but I have not yet decided where I will go. And in October I project to do the "White Night in Paris" the first weekend, there are a lot of opened monuments and many free concerts. It is the night of Saturday to Sunday, and I will visit museums on Sunday, they are free the 1st Sunday of each month in France.

@LadyDuck I have changed of neighborhood, and in this one they served a roasted suckling pig last year. As they were doing the same this year, I decided to sulk the dinner, by solidarity for Jews and Muslims. It is not fair for them.

@topffer It is true that it's not very nice to offer suckling pig, they could at least cook something that everyone could eat. Here they are surely going to offer polenta and blue cheese or stew. It's not bad, but a bit hard on my stomach.

No special plans here. We still have summer in September. It might cloud up and rain once or twice during this month, but it usually stays pretty warm and clear. I think our first official day of fall is the 20th or 21st. I would enjoy the rain at this point.

I am not sure if it's the 20th or the 21st this year, but this is the official start of Autumn here too. I have spent a month of September in Los Angeles and it was a lot warmer than here.

We are at our son's place, which is in the municipality of Chatham-Kent, and it is so terribly warm and muggy down here. Ugh, haven't we had enough of this for 1 season? We need to go to Michigan, and I would imagine that the weather will be the same.

Yes, the weather seems to have it in for September. We had rains throughout the day and it does not look like it will stop for a couple of days. Did nor know forget-me-nots were official flowers. Plans for Autumn, well got loads of writing work to do. But, nothing exciting.

September is usually a nice month, the heat of summer is over but we can still hope in long sunny days. I like the forget-me-not and I am surprised it is the flower of September, they usually bloom in early Spring.

@LadyDuck I like colorful things in my garden. Pity we had to come to a high rise and there is nothing here, not even a cat. Well, anyway, one fourth of September is over. The big freeze starts right about a week from now.

Are you okay with the rain and cooler air? Or do you prefer it to be warmer? I know we discussed not liking the heat, but I was just asking before saying "I'm sorry it's raining" or anything like that. I don't necessarily want it gloomy, but I wouldn't mind it cooler now.

As I said earlier, Happy September. The sun is out here and it's cooler than it has been, but September can be hot here as well. Of course I don't mind the heat. lol. We have a busy weekend with lots of parties, barbecues, and dinners to attend and a booked calendar for the month. The most important things are taking care of the kitties and paying for the furniture, lighting fixtures, and odds and ends our son is buying for his new house. It's one of our gifts to him and so joyful to see that his tastes are more similar to mine than not.

@LadyDuck You will definitely have more nice sunny and warm days to enjoy being outdoors. Our son and his bride go out every weekend looking at furniture. They are having a couch custom made, and asked our permission if that was okay. Weekends are very busy with texts from them with photos of what they want to buy and what our opinions are. I just love that about them. Hubs just ran over there to see about a project my son is considering. They are both so handy, but a lot of the work he wants done will be done by professionals. We are so thrilled he lives so close to us.
