Pen pals anyone?

I used to have a pen pal when I was a kid and the eagerness with which I used to await their letter and the happiness in sharing about the special moments of my life with them through letters was invaluable. Now with the help of internet we have the comfort of making friendships with people around the world and keeping in touch very easily but the feeling of waiting patiently for a letter from your 'stranger' friend is something different. Did anyone of you used have pen pals back then?

When I was in high school I was eager too to have penpal friends. But I do not know how to get a penpal. Now, because of the internet, getting a penpal does not seem practical for me anymore as I can make friends with just simple interactions over the net.

True, now we can afford to have a lot of 'key' (as in keyboard) pals instead of a few pen pals!

Sorry, I couldn't quite get it. Does that mean that you are still in touch with the same pen pals through social media?

I had a couple of penpals when i was a child, as well as a cousin who i would write to. Very fond memories of penpals
