In case you have been under a rock,ABC fired Roseanne from her own show for making a racially insensitive tweet.John Goodman does not belive she is racist.I personally think there was over reaction on the part of ABC,which owns Disney.Anyway, the show has been re-tooled as The Conners. How do you think it will play out,and what do you think of her being fired in the first place?

I tend to agree with you. First let's look at Roseanne.
She's an outspoken comedian.
So, she made a thoughtless comment. True. A comment that could be construed many different ways. A comment she shouldn't have made. All true.
However far worse things have been said - and the punishment hasn't been so harsh.
To sum up - I think Roseanne should have thought that comment through a lot better, however I think that there is too much punishment for the "crime".

I agree.I feel people like Alec Baldwin get a free pass where she doesn't,so I think there is discrimination inbn that respect.

@Aquitaine24 okay so it's not just a name change for the show Roseanne won't be there at all. Sounds like the entire script for the 10 episodes will have to be hugely edited.

I think they will loose a lot of viewers by letting her go. Without her, I'm not looking for it to last long. As far as the tweet goes, I just think they take their actions to far. Was Rosanne wrong in what she said, yes. If she apologized then that should have been enough, then those that don't want to watch the show fine, Rosanne is not everyone's cup of tea anyway. What amasses me is, She gets kicked off of the show for this, but Trump can tweet anything he wants and get by with it. Why is it alright for him to do that, but no one else!

I agree.I think asking er to apologize would have been more in line with the infraction.

@TheHorse Oh I know some people here that are totally racist, there are no two ways about it and they don't try to hide it ether. In fact look at members of the KKK or skin heads, how would you classify them then? I would say myself their completely racist.

@sweetashoney Everyone has prejudices. Nobody is "completely racist" or "completely non-racist."

I agrew that she was wrongfully fired.I think the reaction of the executive was a knee jerk reaction.

I never much cared for Roseanne myself -- supposed racist comments or not.

I thought the actors worked together very well--even Sarah Chalke.

I agree with DianneN - Our society does not tolerate that kind of talk anymore, and that is a good thing. People need to learn to be considerate and thoughtful about the things they say, or be willing to accept the consequences. We can say whatever we want, but we do have to realize that certain statements will have consequences and we have to accept that, too.

Probably the company had to do that so as not to be deemed as racists
