LOVE

I received a giant hug from my neighbor today while Doodles was relaxing in our front yard behind some bushes. Our neighbor was walking his dog.
He is quite famous. He is a retired pediatric surgeon, clinical professor at Yale University, and author of many books, his most famous being “Love, Medicine, and Miracles”. His daughter was my mother’s helper when my boys were young. He also removed a small cyst from my upper thigh years ago.
He asked about the cats, and when I told him about Kuma dying of cancer, he told me about one of his beloved cats. She was diagnosed with a melanoma that had spread. Instead of putting her down as the vet suggested, he brought her back home. He spent most of his free time with her, talking and petting her soothingly, and actually sitting on the floor while they both ate. As it turned out, her melanoma eventually disappeared and she was given a clean bill off health.
I doubt it will help Kuma, but I will certainly try. We all need love.

@LadyDuck Great to hear. I just went upstairs where Kuma prefers to be and brushed her. I covered her with a blanket when I finished. Our a/c is back on and she loves being under blankets to stay warm and cozy.
Remember when I told you how Doodles attacked her yesterday? I punished him for a while by scolding him, not taking him out, and withholding treats for a couple of hours. Well, that stinker sprayed twice in the room where Kuma was sleeping! Out of spite or stress, I don't know which. Ugh!!!!!

It can't hurt! As tired as I was last night before bed, I brushed Kuma for over 10 minutes straight. She purred and purred and purred. It made my heart burst! I felt guilty for stopping to take my bedtime bath, but will brush her lots more. Anything to help.

That's a great story. Reminds me of "The Hidden Messages in Water" - Emoto.
A study was done where people said loving things to water as it froze, and hateful things, to water as it froze and the resulting crystals were different - it was repeated a lot of times to be sure that it wasn't coincidence - which it wasn't.
And keeping in mind that we are mostly made of water.....

Mind and body work in tandem and surely love that is connected to the mind will help the body in curing the disease.

@DianneN - Oh, Dianne. I agree that it may not cure Kuma, but it could certainly not hurt for your cat to feel your love.

@DianneN - Oh, Dianne, I am so sorry she has developed another tumor. We had a cat when our daughters were growing up who also kept developing tumors. Eventually, we had to have her put down when the vet said that even with the most aggressive treatment she would probably only live another six months. I didn't see any reason to put her through surgery, radiation, etc, since she would not understand why we were doing it. We were very sad at the time.

@DeborahDiane Thank you, DD. That's exactly why we won't treat Kuma. She cries just being in the car and is so timid and afraid of strangers. Our son already spoke to a woman who owns a mobile vet service. When the time comes, she will come to the house to put Kuma asleep in our son's arms. Kuma and Doodles are both his cats. They will remain here until we leave for Florida. My son is worried about them moving into his new house, which will be so strange to the kitties and be a huge adjustment. Besides, he's working on getting area rugs and furniture for them. Kuma needs places to hide and make her own. That is my life right now.

@moffittjc None of it is. They will grow back quickly, and we don't want to put her through it all.

@ridingbet I only know that we can see the tumor on her shoulder, but it has tentacles below the skin. It is spreading towards her spine now. She was fixed and is a virgin. Our poor little girl.
